In this project, the editorial department picks up and introduces one bike that catches our attention from the "My Bike" posts on the Webike Community. This time, we are featuring the HONDA "CBR250RR (MC51)", owned by "cbr-nori".

CBR250RR (MC51) (250cc) Owner: cbr-nori

The Honda CBR250RR (MC51), which debuted in 2017, is a model that set a new standard in the 250cc supersport market under the development concept of "Intuition, Experience, New Generation 'RR'". It is equipped with a newly designed liquid-cooled 4-stroke DOHC 4-valve inline 2-cylinder engine and adopts the class-first throttle-by-wire system (electronic control throttle). With three selectable riding modes, it has the potential to handle a wide range of scenarios, from serious sports riding to ease of use in city traffic. Its sharp and aggressive styling, along with luxurious equipment that exceeds its class, such as inverted front forks and a gull-arm shaped aluminum swingarm, are also major attractions.

Owner cbr-nori encountered this CBR250RR (nicknamed "Nidabo") while looking for a 250cc supersport. After comparing it with the 4-cylinder ZX-25R, they chose the CBR250RR due to its ease of handling in city riding and on small-to-medium circuits, as well as its weight and power band characteristics. By installing an Akrapovic full exhaust system, they enjoy a bass-heavy sound and seem satisfied with the fuel efficiency as well. The comment that the bike's performance is so high that it makes them feel like they have become a better rider speaks to the high level of perfection of this model.

■ Purchase Motivation, Usage, and Comparison Models

I wanted to ride a 250SS and found this at a bike shop. Originally, I was considering the ZX-25R, but when thinking about city riding and small-to-medium circuit riding, I felt that the Nidabo had the advantage in terms of vehicle weight, power band, and power from around 9,000 rpm. However, on wider courses, the ZX-25R is superior due to its maximum output in the ultra-high rpm range.

As for the exhaust sound, I have an Akrapovic full exhaust installed; it has a good bass sound despite being a 2-cylinder, and it sounds quite good above 9,000 rpm. However, it cannot beat the 4-cylinder ZX-25R. On the other hand, it is economical, with fuel efficiency around 30 km/L even in city traffic jams. On the highway, frankly speaking, I don't feel a lack of power even on the Shin-Tomei Expressway.

■ Pros

Fuel efficiency, ride quality, and looks.
Everything is impeccable.
You can ride as if you have become a better rider.

■ Cons

The seat is a bit hard, so it starts to hurt after a while. Depending on whether you use the tandem seat, it is quite hard as well.

Regarding the ride, while it is a merit, the bike is so excellent that I don't think the ride matches my actual skill level. It is a bike that allows anyone to draw out most of its performance, but it is difficult to draw out all of its original performance. The front end dives well and is stable, so I think you can ride fast with ease.

It looks quite cool even in stock form, but I recommend changing the muffler. It is heavy, so if you switch to an Akrapovic full exhaust, you can expect weight reduction and some horsepower increase.

■ Advice for Future Buyers

I have been riding it for about 3 years and rode 1,500 km in one day; it has good fuel efficiency and I have had no breakdowns or issues.
As long as you manage it by changing the oil every 3,000 km, checking tire pressure, and periodically adding Fuel One, there will be no problems. It is a truly excellent bike, so please try test-riding one, even if it's a rental.

■ Future Customization Plans

I'm thinking of finishing it with performance-oriented mods like an ECU reflash.
