This project introduces one bike that caught the editorial department's eye from the "My Bike" posts on the Webike community. This time, we are featuring the YAMAHA "YZF-R1", owned by "sakiii".

YZF-R1 (1000cc) Owner: sakiii

The YZF-R1 is Yamaha's flagship supersport. Since the first model appeared in 1998, it has continued to evolve under the banner of being the "fastest on twisty roads." In particular, the full model change in 2015 saw the generous application of technology from the MotoGP machine "YZR-M1," shifting its concept significantly to a "High Tech Armed Pure Sport" aimed at being the fastest on the circuit.

It is equipped with an inline 4-cylinder engine using a crossplane crankshaft and an advanced electronic control system centered on a 6-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit). It achieves both overwhelming performance and controllability, making it active in racing scenes around the world and highly acclaimed by many sports riding enthusiasts. The 2016 model inherits that basic design, resulting in a package that pursues circuit potential to the limit.

Owner sakiii purchased this YZF-R1 as the "bike I wanted most." While highly praising its character specialized for circuit speed, they also frankly speak about the difficulty of handling it in city riding. It conveys the sense that they fully enjoyed (?) the sharp personality unique to a model that can be called the pinnacle of supersports.

<From MY Bike Comments>

■Purchase Motivation, Usage, and Comparison Models

I bought it because it was the bike I wanted most.

■Pros

Like the 2025 model, it is all-in on circuit speed.

■Cons

Basically, the complaints are the same as the 2025 model, but the ECU tuning is different, making city riding even harder and more painful.

■Advice for Future Buyers

It's not a bike for riding in the city, so if you want to ride an SS in the city, you should buy an S1000 or a CBR1000RR.

■Future Custom Plans

It shattered at the Ebisu toilet corner, so I'm keeping the remaining license plate and meter in a case lol.

It seems it met its end after limit-pushing riding on the circuit, but its intense personality seems to have been deeply engraved in sakiii's heart.
