K-2 PROJECT's HAYABUSA

The ZX-14R has a background rooted in the history of previous Kawasaki flagships like the ZZR1400, 1100, and ZX-12R. Capable of reaching speeds of 300km/h, its standout features are high stability and smooth everyday usability. K-2 PROJECT has worked on several Kawasaki flagships since their opening in 2001. This is a Suzuki Hayabusa which is unusual for K-2. "The owner initially visited our store with a customer who rides the ZZR1400. After seeing other customers' ZZR and ZX-14Rs, he decided to enhance the appearance of his own bike. At that time, a high-grade Hayabusa had just arrived at our shop, so we were able to use that as a reference as well."

Mr. Kitamura of K-2 told us what inspired him to make the modifications. The owner had a basic image of coolness, and Mr. Kitamura proposed a specific direction to match it. The selection of parts, their combination, and the resulting advantages and disadvantages, functionality, color, and budget were all considered. The same was true for the paint done by YF Design. "The flagship models have high performance, but they also have the size and weight to accommodate it. So first we changed the wheels to reduce the weight, and once the weight was reduced, we decided to go with a suspension system that could be adjusted to match the movement of the new weight. Here we chose Ohlins which allows you to set the spring rate as well. The ride height is also lowered to suit the owner's physique, but we can adapt to that as well without any difficulty."

Handle

The handlebar is Hurricane's Bar & Top Bridge Kit, which provides a direct feel. The fork's protrusion has also been optimized.

The left and right master cylinders are Brembo Racing, and the levers have been changed to a foldable type. The brake/clutch fluids are in blue to match the body color. The use of colored fluid is typical of K-2, which is usually green for Kawasaki models.

Bodyworks

The exterior, including the single seat cover, is stock of the second generation Hayabusa, and was painted by YF Design after K-2 took the customer's request.

Engine

The 1340cc straight-4 engine and aluminum twin-spar frame are stock, with the addition of left and right sliders. The bike is designed to feel familiar to the rider through weight reduction and positioning, and to make good use of the power, which is close to 200 hp even in stock condition.

Chassis

The front forks have been replaced with Ohlins upside-down forks that can be set to accommodate lightweight wheels, the owner's weight, and footing. The front brakes also feature Brembo CNCP4 calipers and Sunstar Premium Racing discs for enhanced stability.

The steps are by Maverick, with four positions to choose for ease of operation and holding. The rear shocks are also lowered to match the owner's physique, while being adjusted with Ohlins to prevent the heaviness of turning corners that often occurs when lowering the height.

The rear brakes are also upgraded with Brembo CNCP2 calipers mounted at lower position and combined with Sunstar Premium Racing discs.

The swingarm is a K-2 Project original. The first model of it is installed. The front and rear wheels are Marchesini Forged Aluminum M7RS Genesis, with the same 3.50-17/6.00-17 size as stock. The left and right dual exhaust system is a BEET NASSERT Evolution Type II T2 Full Exhaust with blue titanium silencers.
