Haojue Suzuki in China has announced the new "GSX250R-F," equipped with a variable valve lift (VVL) mechanism. In addition to an engine that delivers a maximum output of 21.5kW (29ps), it features the latest equipment such as a TFT meter and smartphone connectivity, and will be available at a local price of 18,980 yuan (approximately 450,000 yen).

Suzuki's new GSX250R-F is equipped with a new hydraulic-driven variable valve lift (VVL) mechanism on its water-cooled parallel-twin 8-valve engine. The aim is to improve low-to-mid range usability and fuel efficiency while increasing output at high speeds. It achieves a maximum output of 21.5kW (29ps) at 9500rpm and a maximum torque of 23.6N・m (2.40kg-m) at 5500rpm.

Compared to the previous non-VVL model, the GSX250R-A (18.4kW (25ps) at 8000rpm, 23.4N・m (2.38kg-m) at 6500rpm), this represents a 4ps increase in maximum output, a slight increase in maximum torque, and a 1000rpm lower peak torque RPM, providing a wider powerband. The engine's rev limit also appears to have been raised to 11000rpm, 500rpm higher than the previous GSX250R-A.

Compared to the non-VVL conventional GSX250R-A (blue line), the new GSX250R-F (red line) surpasses it in maximum output and torque across the entire range.

New LED Headlight and Winglets Adopted

The exterior features a new generation design, incorporating new LED projector headlights and winglets. The silencer has also been changed to a sportier design. The meter uses a high-definition TFT color panel and supports smartphone screen mirroring navigation, Bluetooth calls, music playback, and tire pressure monitoring functions.

Furthermore, it comes standard with an 18W Type-C charging port, an F.C.C. assist & slipper clutch, and Bosch 2-channel ABS, described as an entry-level supersport that can be enjoyed comfortably and safely from commuting and city riding to touring and winding roads. Despite the adoption of various new features, the curb weight remains the same as the GSX250R-A at 178kg, which is also noteworthy. The suggested retail price in the local market is 18,980 yuan (approximately 450,000 yen), with two color options available.

While there has been no announcement regarding its introduction in Japan, Haojue Suzuki (a motorcycle manufacturing joint venture established in 2007, funded by Japan's Suzuki and China's Changjiang Group) is also responsible for the production of the current GSX250R and V-Strom 250 for the Japanese market, leading to expectations that the new GSX250R-F may be introduced domestically.

Compared to the monochrome LCD of the GSX250R-A, the new R-F features a color LCD meter with a redesigned appearance. A water temperature gauge has also been added.

It gains smartphone connectivity and a USB Type-C charging port has been added to the left of the meter.
