Designed for Both Track Riding and Touring: GSF1200S Custom

HANGAI SPL.'s GSF1200S

In response to the Japanese naked bike trend that began with the Zephyr 400 in 1989 and the lifting of the voluntary sales regulation for Japanese bikes over 750cc in 1990, the big naked bike trend of the 1990s occurred. Suzuki also released the highly anticipated GSF1200 naked bike in 1996. Based on the GSF1200S (1997 model), this bike features a Katana front cowl and a GSX-R1000 rear cowl, giving it a look that stays true to the original shape but also makes you think "If Suzuki made an oil-cooled naked bike, this is what it would look like". The full paint job includes many carbon parts on various sections in addition to the stock fuel tank.

The handlebar remains bar type, but the handle post has been changed and adjusted to a slightly higher position, also the foot pegs are changed to achieve more comfortable riding position.The suspension has been finely tuned, incorporating an inner cartridge kit into the stock front forks and setting the swingarm to a 20mm longer ABS specification, even with the same GSF1200 model. To achieve a specification capable of both track riding and touring, the engine has been fitted with a Yoshimura ST-1 cam and an F.C.C. clutch, larger oil cooler, and the electrical system has been upgraded to a Uotani system, uncovering its potential with successive customizations. From the exterior, you can clearly see that the contents are a beautifully packaged custom classic.

Handle

The handlebar is made by Antlion, and it is mounted with the handle post slightly raised to optimize the riding position. The meter has also been replaced with an Acewell ACE-6652, which combines a multifunctional digital display and an analog tachometer in one unit. The front master cylinder uses a Brembo RCS, and the clutch lever uses ZETA.

Engine

The engine is an oil-cooled 1156cc GSF1200S fitted with Yoshimura ST-1 camshaft, F.C.C. clutch, and quick shifter. The cylinder side sliders are original parts, and the pulsar and generator covers are made of carbon. Additionally, the oil cooler has been replaced with one from a GSX-R1100 to increase its capacity.

Intake & Exhaust

The carburetor is equipped with an FCR Φ39mm with a RAMAIR air filter, and the electrical components use the Uotani SP2. In addition, shrink coating has been applied to the head cover and other engine covers.

Bodyworks

Originally, it was a GSF1200S with a distinctive square-eyed half-cowl, but the front cowl has been replaced with one designed for the GSX1100S. Additionally, small LED blinkers have been attached to the base of the mirror bracket.

The rear blinkers are also small LED, mounted next to the license plate holder. They are so small that they hardly require any effort to remove them when riding on track.

The seat rail was modified to install a seat cowl from a GSX-R1000, and the painting was done by the bike shop NIKAWA. The frame was also repainted.

Chassis

The front forks use the stock GSF1200S Φ43mm forks and incorporate the Withme GSF1200 Front Fork Inner Damper Kit (with adjustable compression, rebound, and preload). The outer tubes are buff finished. The GSF's stock Nissin 4-piston calipers and Sunstar Classic brake discs are featured for front brakes.

The rear suspension combines the GSF1200 ABS stock swingarm, which is 20mm longer than that of the GSF1200/S, with an Ohlins rear shock. Additionally, a carbon inner fender and the Galespeed TYPE-R forged aluminum wheels, with the same 3.50-17/5.50-17 size as the stock ones are also attached.

The rear brake has been replaced with the RF900R's stock caliper, and the torque rod has been removed. The brake disc uses the GSF1200S's stock. The Yoshimura Titanium Cyclone exhaust is installed. The drive chain uses RK's 520XXW, and the rear sprocket is changed to RK's H.C.S. Premium 01PS to reduce resistance, making it a more modern bike-like custom.
