Two Models Equipped with New Generation V2 Engine Arrive in Japan
Ducati Japan will launch the new "Hypermotard V2 SP" and the new "DesertX" at authorized dealers nationwide starting September 12, 2026. Both models are equipped with a newly developed 890cc V-twin engine. This new generation engine features an intake variable valve timing system, achieving powerful yet easy-to-handle output characteristics from low to high RPMs. This is a new engine that departs from Desmodromic, already adopted in models like the Panigale V2 and Monster+.
For the Japanese market, the supermotard model Hypermotard V2 will introduce the higher-grade "SP" as a regular lineup item, with the standard specification available by special order. Meanwhile, the adventure model DesertX will come standard with a low suspension kit for the Japanese specification, lowering the seat height to 860mm for improved usability. The Hypermotard V2 SP is priced at 2,490,000 yen, and the DesertX at 2,120,000 yen.
Completely Redesigned Engine & Frame for Ultra-Lightweight! Hypermotard V2 SP
The new Hypermotard V2 SP features a styling that reinterprets the iconic beak design and under-tail dual exhaust of the first-generation model in a modern way. The chassis achieves a 14kg weight reduction compared to the previous Hypermotard 950 SP, with a curb weight of 177kg excluding fuel. Equipped with a specially developed aluminum monocoque frame, Öhlins suspension, and forged wheels, it delivers a maximum output of 120.4ps.
Furthermore, it newly incorporates Ducati Quick Shift 2.0, first adopted on the new Panigale V4. With its new control logic, it offers a more direct and smoother quick shifter than before. Additionally, it features a 5-inch TFT display, making it easier to manage complex information such as the three display modes (Road, Sport, Track) and the status of electronic control systems, achieving high combat performance suitable for both public roads and circuits.
