FLAKES' SR500
The chopper style is popular among SR riders, but many of them may have an image of an outlaw, rough and rugged character when they think of choppers. However, the SR500 presented here has a luxurious feel to it, even though it is a standard chopper style. One of the main reasons for this is the beautiful paintwork, which is unbelievably eye-catching. The delicate and deep paint, created by the mind-boggling amount of masking and 40 layers of clearcoat, has reached the level of an art form. It is enough to showcase the high skill and sense of Mr. Sato, who is known not only as a builder but also as a painter. In addition, the high level of perfection was achieved through uncompromising attention to detail and the effective use of one-off parts with elaborate designs, including drilled work on various components. He has succeeded in creating a sense of high quality within the rough chopper form. Of course, it is not only about appearance but also about riding performance. Looking inside the engine, the classic combination of Yoshimura ST-1 camshafts and 89mm Wiseco pistons gives the engine a souped-up displacement of 522cc. The FCR carburetor was chosen to create another dimension of performance compared to the stock engine. The well-balanced, chopper-like silhouette is luxurious and speed-conscious. This is truly a one-of-a-kind piece.
Handle
The unique handlebar is a one-off. The drilled, rugged design matches the chopper style and adds originality to the machine.
Bodyworks
The one-off solo seat is mounted perfectly along the machined seat rail. The bright red color accentuates the machine.
Engine
The key cylinder was relocated to the electrical box for a cleaner handlebar area. The beautiful paint job as well as the form made to fit the machined frame is also noteworthy.
The crankcase is also machined, and together with the drilled, unique form of the mid-controller, it creates a sense of unity with the machine.
Intake & Exhaust
The exhaust pipe is a one-off, and the store's original Power Trumpet Exhaust was selected for the silencer. The high, raised exhaust gives the impression of roughness to all who see it.
Chassis
The front wheel has been replaced with a 19-inch, it is combined with a 16-inch wheel at the rear to create a chopper-like silhouette. The old-look AVON tires are a perfect match.
Boldly set in the lower half of the engine is a one-off mid-controller. In addition to the rough form, each part is drilled to show the attention to detail of the builder.
The swingarm is adopted from the XS650 for a cleaner, more organized look. It is also drilled, helping to unify the machine and enhance the sense of completeness.
