Triumph's traditional name, TRIDENT, was revived in 2020 as TRIDENT 660, a middle-class roadster equipped with a 660cc parallel three-cylinder engine. Five years later, on October 28, 2025, the "TRIDENT 800" with a new 800 cc parallel three-cylinder engine was unveiled, along with the key phrase "MADE TO UPSTAGE".

Carrying on the name of the tragic and famous "TRIDENT

The name "TRIDENT," meaning "trident," first appeared in Triumph history in 1967, when the "TRIDENT T150" was a sports model powered by a 740cc air-cooled, OHV, parallel three-cylinder engine. This first-generation "TRIDENT T150" was also sold as the "Rocket Three" by the same British company, BSA. Although the 58 bhp (58.8 PS) parallel three-cylinder engine mounted on the TRIDENT T150 was high-power for the time, it was overshadowed by the 67 PS engine of Honda's Dream CB750Four, which appeared in 1969, and from then on British-made motorcycles continued to decline. Triumph closed its factory for a time in 1983, but was revived in 1990, when it introduced the "TRIDENT 750/900" with a new liquid-cooled, parallel three-cylinder engine. However, the second-generation "TRIDENT," a naked model with a modern design, struggled in an era when neoclassical-style naked models were very popular in Japan. Then, in 2020, the new "TRIDENT 660" was introduced, a modern classic model with a perfect mix of heritage and modern design. Equipped with a 660cc liquid-cooled parallel three-cylinder engine producing 81 PS in a compact and lightweight chassis, the "TRIDENT 660" was a smash hit in Japan, where its price was less than 1 million yen. The newly announced "TRIDENT 800" is a higher-end model of the 660 equipped with a more powerful engine.

The TRIDENT 660 revives the Trident name. It features a wye-piece type seat, a rounded tank design, and a short exhaust system.

The "TRIDENT 800" has a frame and swingarm design similar to the 660, but the seat, tank, and exhaust system design are very different.

Neoclassical design with added massiveness

The TRIDENT 800 features a naked design with a massive feel, blending sharp surfaces and smooth curves to create an imposing presence and athlete-like appearance. The fuel tank, with its wide, sculpted design, flows into the seat and sophisticated tail unit. At the tail, a tail cowl of a different design than the 660's is fitted, while the short, raised silencer and minimal number plate holder give the rear view a slimmer, more powerful appearance.

With a more sporty image, the TRIDENT 800 also has a more luxurious feel with carefully designed parts throughout.

The chunky, neo-classic design is inherited from the 660, but the overall design has been refined and refined. The gold wheels add a touch of luxury.

With the blinkers mounted on the rear fender, which is mounted on the swingarm, the tail design is slim and sharp.

The front view is dominated by uniquely designed LED headlights. The compact tail area creates a sporty rear view.

The "TRIDENT 800" is detailed in every detail, with premium finished parts throughout. The embossed seat logo adds a subtle touch of luxury, while lightweight cast aluminum wheels with a striking gold finish further enhance the bike's style. It will be available in three colors: Ash Gray, Carnival Red, and Jet Black.

The "Ash Gray" has a cool image.

The "Carnival Red" has a powerful image.

The "Jet Black" has an appealing simplicity.

The fuel tank has a unique design that Triumph describes as "sculptural." It has a capacity of 14 liters.

The gauges are fitted with a small visor, which gives the front area a sporty look without interfering with the neoclassical design.

The "800" logo appears on the undercowl, and three beautifully curved exhaust pipes make their presence known.

The tail cowl, with a design that converges toward the rear, has a compact LED taillight embedded in it.

Powerful engine in a lightweight chassis

The "TRIDENT 800," introduced as a 2026 model, is powered by a newly developed 798cc liquid-cooled, parallel three-cylinder engine. This engine, combined with a triple throttle body, delivers sharp throttle response, overwhelming torque, and chest-thumping power at high rpm. The bore x stroke is 78.0 mm x 55.7 mm, and specifications also call for maximum output of 84.6 kW (115 PS) at 10750 rpm and maximum torque of 84 Nm at 8500 rpm. In addition to strong mid-range acceleration, this engine produces a profound intake sound through the triple throttle body. This is further amplified by a redesigned airbox and intake trumpet system that optimizes airflow and intake sound, producing a deep, powerful roar under load and Triumph's signature triple sound at high rpm. Inside the engine are a number of parts designed to maximize performance and durability, including a twisted forged crankshaft, unique camshaft and balancer, forged connecting rods, and high compression pistons.

It is powered by a liquid-cooled, DOHC 4-valve, 3-cylinder 798cc engine. This engine, the latest spec, produces a maximum output of 84.6 kW (115 PS)/10750 rpm and a maximum torque of 84 Nm at 8500 rpm.

Supporting this high-power engine is a chassis designed for high-performance riding. The lightweight frame and adjustable Showa suspension provide sharp handling. The seat height is 810mm and is slim for good footing, holding the rider firmly in place. At the front, a 41mm-diameter Showa inverted fork is used. It has large-diameter pistons and a separate function damping system that allows compression and rebound adjustment. At the rear is a Showa monoshock with adjustable preload and rebound for ideal riding feel. The braking system features twin 4-piston radial-mount calipers on 310mm discs with mesh hoses for strong and linear stopping power.

The lightweight (198 kg) chassis is powered by a powerful three-cylinder engine. The outstanding performance of this vehicle allows it to be used on a wide range of roads, from city streets to mountain passes, with great gusto.

Loaded with advanced equipment

The TRIDENT 800 is equipped with rider-centric Smart Technology that allows the rider to concentrate on riding. At its core are three riding modes - Road, Sport, and Rain - that optimize throttle response and traction control according to road conditions. Whether maximizing performance or prioritizing peace of mind in the rain, the system is designed to keep the rider in control and at one with the road surface at all times. Advanced lean-angle sensing cornering ABS and traction control enhance cornering stability by adjusting braking and power according to bank angle based on real-time data. Power is transmitted through six gears, and "Triumph Shift Assist" enables shifting up and down without clutch operation for seamless acceleration. Cruise control, a standard feature, also improves comfort on long trips. Connectivity and visibility are equally refined. The "My Triumph Bluetooth" system allows seamless operation of music, calls, and turn-by-turn navigation from a switch cube on the left side, with information displayed on a 3.5-inch color TFT screen. It also features an all-LED lighting system that includes distinctive round LED headlights, integrated taillights, and auto-canceling turn signals. Deliveries of the TRIDENT 800 are scheduled to begin in March 2026, and the price in Japan is 1,249,000 yen.

A number of genuine accessory parts are also available, which can be installed to enhance the sporty image of the vehicle.

The single seat cover, painted in body color, gives the tail area a more racy design.

An Akrapovic exhaust system, which has become a staple of the factory sports exhaust system, is also available. The exhaust system is also available.

The introduction of this model in Japan has already been decided, and it will be priced at 1,249,000 yen. The price is 1,249,000 yen, which is a reasonable price considering the contents.
