9-GATE's SR400
When it comes to customized motorcycles, they are usually built through extensive discussions between the owner and a custom shop, or the owner takes matters into their own hands. However, the case is a little different this time. It was originally customized at a different shop, but was brought to 9-GATE for a complete makeover. It was decided that one of the production concepts would be to create a high-performance SR400 built by the owner and his friends.
The one-off parts incorporated during this customization process were not created by 9-GATE. One-off tail cowl and paintwork were all done by the owner and his friends while 9-GATE handled tasks such as fitting various parts, selecting components, and adjusting the overall design balance. Of course, their production and installation were not easy, but that must be a good memory now. The finished bike resembles the image of a "stealth fighter" with a sleek and compact exterior, contrasting with the luxurious and high-performance suspension that fully brings out the engine's performance. The impressive silhouette seamlessly combines the flat Cruiser aesthetic with the elegant lines of a European café racer, showcasing the expertise of the professionals involved.
Handle
The choice for the headlight fell on the HIGH SIDER. Its lens design is unique and adds character to the simple front mask.
They installed Battle Factory clip-ons on the original top bridge of the TZ250. For the speedometer, they opted for the COGNITOMOTO brand, specifically choosing a GPS-based type that has been gaining popularity in recent years.
The handlebar switches with their unique design are also a noteworthy feature. By paying attention to even the smallest details, they have infused the bike with a distinct personality and achieved a sense of unity with the custom concept.
Bodyworks
The fuel tank is a one-off. By keeping it low, the machine silhouette is well-defined. The paintwork was done by the owner's associates, aiming for a subdued appearance rather than something flashy, using darker hues.
Engine
They utilized a stock crank, paired with a WISECO piston. Yoshimura ST-1M is adopted for camshaft. The bike is equipped with an FCRΦ39 carburetor, and they chose the Belt Drive exhaust system for the exhaust. These modifications significantly enhance the bike's performance.
Chassis
The bike features 17-inch spoke wheels both in the front and rear, with YZF-R1 OEM calipers. This setup can bring out the full power of the 534cc engine
The seat cowl is also a one-off. Due to the strong attention to detail from both the owner and 9-GATE, the process of its completion was said to be extremely challenging. However, the final product speaks for itself in terms of its exceptional craftmanship and quality.
They installed a CRAFTMAN swingarm and paired it with an Ohlins rear suspension. The balance between the rear setup and the front, utilizing the TZ250's stock forks, is also well-maintained.
