Introducing SRC, a custom brand for off-road bikes!

SRC is a brand from Thailand that manufactures crash bars and racks for off-road bikes. Here at Webike, we have been offering their parts since 2017 and they have recently grown into a popular brand with many orders coming in. Our staff recently visited their manufacturing site to get the scoop on how their products are made!

What kind of brand is SRC?

SRC is a brand from Thailand that manufactures and sells mainly crash guards and racks for adventure/trail bikes. They are not only popular in their home country, but also deliver quality products to various countries such as the U.S., Australia, and Japan. The brand was founded by the hard enduro racer Mr. Pichit Truajmoraka (often referred to as Mr. Mue) who started making inexpensive and durable products in Thailand because of the high price of crash bars made in other countries. SRC also owns a prestigious off-road team that actively participates in enduro races in Thailand and around Asia. In addition to manufacturing, they have played a big role in livening up the off-road motorcycle industry throughout Asia.

The manufacturing process

SRC is based in Sriracha, about halfway between Bangkok and Pattaya. Incidentally, the brand name "SRC" was derived from the name of this town. The production factory was well organized with various machines such as a 3D cutting machine and a large laser cutter. The product production process begins with the use of a 3D scanner to measure the size and shape of the bike the parts are being made for.

At the time of our visit, a crash guard and rack for Honda's NX500 were under development.

Once the 3D data is imported into a computer, the design team creates a rough draft of the layout and shape of the part to be made. After the design is finalized, the team moves on to the actual production of the product through the creation of jigs. During the production stage, a multiple check system is put in place, and the products are rigorously checked not only by the on site staff, but also by members involved in marketing and even by Mr. Mue, the founder of the company, himself. In the past, the process was done by hand, so there were often errors, but the introduction of new machines, including the 3D scanner, has improved the product quality.

When painting products they also pay special attention to details unique to off-road use. Paint is not only applied on the outside of the product, but also to the inside of the pipes, as there is a risk of rusting from the inside when riding through puddles or rivers. This kind of attention to detail is something that only an off-road rider would think of.

When we were there, they were in the process of testing the installation of a crash bar, radiator guard, under guard and rear rack on an NX500 which was displayed at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show in March.

Since the crash bar is attached to the frame, if it is poorly made, vibration will occur at high speeds. Therefore, Mr. Mue always conducts a maximum speed check during the testing phase to ensure that there are no unwanted vibrations or abnormalities in operation. Of course, he also checks the durability of the product and its impact on the body of the bike by intentionally taking falls. After design, development, and testing, the products are put into mass production. The finished products are also checked one by one, and even the slightest irregularity in the paint will get the product rejected.

As you can see, SRC creates their products with the dedication that comes from being off-road riders themselves. As a result, they have become a popular brand supported by off-roaders all around the world.
