Honda Motor Co., Ltd. will release the new full-cowl road sport model "CBR400R FOUR E-Clutch," equipped with a newly designed water-cooled 4-stroke DOHC inline 4-cylinder 399cc engine, on September 18, 2026, through Honda Dream dealerships nationwide. The manufacturer's suggested retail price is ¥1,199,000.

The CB400 SUPER FOUR E-Clutch is finally released. The price is ¥1,199,000.

Honda has officially announced the release of the "CBR400R FOUR E-Clutch," a full-cowl sport model equipped with Honda's new 4-cylinder engine. With the development concept of "Exhilaration from Everyday Use," this full-cowl road sport model pursues a sense of fulfillment that allows riders to concentrate on the ride itself. The power unit, like that of the simultaneously announced CB400 SUPER FOUR E-Clutch, features a throttle-by-wire system (TBW), reduced friction, and a higher compression ratio to achieve smooth output characteristics across the entire range. It delivers 58PS at 11,500rpm, an increase of 2PS over the previous CB400SF.

The intake system is equipped with twin ram air ducts to enable sharp acceleration at high speeds, and the exhaust system features a beautifully curved 4-2-1 exhaust pipe to produce the expansive exhaust note unique to an inline 4-cylinder engine. Furthermore, a key feature is the standard equipment of Honda's proprietary electronic control technology, "Honda E-Clutch," which enables smooth starting, shifting, and stopping without operating the clutch lever.

This electronic control clutch works in coordination with the TBW to reduce shifting shock during downshifts. It also detects rear-wheel hop during sudden deceleration and intervenes with half-clutch control to maintain stable vehicle behavior. While sharing the platform with the "CB400 SUPER FOUR E-Clutch," this model is given a character more specialized for sport riding.

The body styling incorporates solid surface expressions that resemble machined metal, conveying high dynamic performance along with futuristic lighting designs. The newly designed steel-tube diamond frame contributes to mass centralization. Combined with the forward-leaning riding position, separate seats, and front inverted suspension, it achieves both a high sense of unity and excellent controllability on winding roads.

The cockpit features a 5-inch full-color TFT LCD meter and comes standard with the smartphone integration function "Honda RoadSync." This allows for music playback and navigation app operation via handlebar switches and voice commands. A USB socket (Type-C) is also provided below the right side of the meter.

Two color variations will be available: the futuristic and inorganic "Beta Silver Metallic" and the "Matte Ballistic Black Metallic," which emphasizes a powerful silhouette. The release date is September 18, 2026, with a price of ¥1,199,000, approximately ¥200,000 more than the CB400SF. A sales target of 2,500 units is planned.
