Request from Urban Riders: New KATANA "1000R" Custom

Team-Kagayama's KATANA

Team Kagayama raced the "KATANA 1000R" in the Tsukuba TOT and Hercules classes in the spring / fall of '18 and fall of '20. The machine had a powerful impact with its Katana look and GSX-R1000 engine, pro arm (No. 2 model), carburetor, and twin shocks (No. 3 model). As a result, Team Kagayama received many enthusiastic requests to "bring the image of the KATANA 1000R to the production model." In response to these requests, they began customizing the current KATANA in 2019 as a street bike that could be enjoyed.

Until now, racing customization and street customization were completely different dimensions. However, by creating these street customs and closely focusing on the air-cooled KATANA and the current KATANA, we can transcend the barriers between racing and street. This KATANA reflects Team Kagayama's aspirations to do so.

Bodyworks

The distinctive blue and black Team KAGAYAMA image colors are achieved through wrapping. Many fans bring in their own bikes to have this color scheme applied.

Long tail modification with GT tail made by OHNO SPEED. The license plate was relocated from the stock KATANA swingarm mount to the bottom of the tail cowl.

Electrical

When converting the KATANA's up-type handlebar to clip-ons, the tank cover interferes with the handlebar, making it difficult to maintain the handle angle. Therefore, a Yoshimura tank cover, upper cowling, and X-control handlebar kit were installed to solve this problem.

Intake & Exhaust

The Yoshimura B-77 Slip-on exhaust called "banana silencer" is installed. The Baby Face rearsets are anodized in a color specially ordered by Team Kagayama.

Chassis

The front and rear wheels on this KATANA bike are stock, but the rims have been wrapped in Team Kagayama's image colors of black and blue. The inner disc rotors have been specially ordered to match the color of the wheels, and even the Brembo logo on the calipers has also been changed to blue.

The rear wheels are similarly wrapped, and the driven sprocket is also anodized blue to unify the color image.
