Honda will add a new model to its XL750 Transalp large adventure model, equipped with the Honda E-Clutch, which automatically controls clutch operation, on April 23, 2026. This is the first model in Japan to feature throttle-by-wire and an electronically controlled clutch, and it is one that delivers a refined ride on all surfaces, from urban areas to unpaved roads.

Next-generation Riding Feel Created by Coordination with Throttle-by-Wire

Honda has added the XL750 Transalp E-Clutch, which incorporates the latest electronic control technology, to its lineup of the XL750 Transalp, a large sports model that has gained support for its all-round performance. The main topic of this model is the adoption of the Honda E-Clutch, which eliminates the need to operate the clutch lever in all situations, such as starting, shifting gears, and stopping. The clutch is automatically optimized according to the rider's skill level and riding conditions, enabling a smooth ride with no sense of discomfort. It should not be overlooked that this system has been combined for the first time with the throttle-by-wire system (TBW), which converts the rider's throttle operation into an electrical signal, and in cooperation with TBW, the engine response and butterfly valve opening are precisely optimized when the throttle is opened. This provides a flexible riding feel that is faithful to the rider's intentions. Furthermore, when downshifting, the half-clutch control and engine speed synchronization by TBW work together to significantly reduce gearshift shock. Even in situations where the rear tires bounce due to sudden deceleration or uneven road surfaces, the system detects the speed difference between the front and rear wheels and intervenes with the half-clutch to maintain vehicle body stability. Even when the rear wheel slips on rough roads or off-road, the control technology that allows appropriate gear shifting using only the shift pedal is sure to further expand the field of adventure. In terms of the system's structure, the new unit is an evolution from the previous unit, with the lift mechanism being dual-axis, allowing the actuator to be positioned forward. The compact layout of the system without major changes to the basic structure of the engine is an excellent design that does not compromise the balance of the vehicle body. The system's fine-tuned control, which responds to a wide variety of situations from city streets to highways, and from mountain passes to unpaved roads, promises riders a long touring experience on a grand scale.

The Transalp E-Clutch model, which was first introduced in Europe, has arrived in Japan. It is now available with all new equipment and colors.

One new black color to tickle the adventurous spirit, and the price is 110,000 yen higher than before.

On the exterior, a new one-tone color, "Matte Ballistic Black Metallic," gives a calm and sporty impression. The intrepid black body, combined with the dual projector headlights that have been used since the 2025 model year, emphasizes a more powerful adventure image. An aluminum skid plate is standard on the lower part of the body, combining tough styling with practicality to protect the engine from stepping stones. It is also noteworthy that Honda is actively using sustainable materials in its efforts to reduce its environmental impact. For part of the exterior, recycled materials made from used plastic products that have been collected and treated appropriately have been introduced to promote resource conservation. The windscreen, which ensures visibility while driving, is made of Durabio, an environmentally friendly bio-engineering plastic that ensures high transparency and durability while embodying environmental friendliness.

The E-clutch is a newly shaped unit that differs from conventional clutches. It can smoothly respond to rear wheel slip in off-road situations.

Turning to the basic specs, it is powered by a liquid-cooled 4-stroke OHC (Unicam) 4-valve inline 2-cylinder engine with a displacement of 754cc. Maximum output is 67 kW (91 PS) and maximum torque reaches 75 Nm (7.6 kgf-m). The bore and stroke are 87.0 x 63.5 mm, and the compression ratio is set at 11.0. The vehicle weight is kept at 216 kg, and the fuel consumption rate is an excellent 22.7 km per liter in WMTC mode. The fuel tank has a capacity of 16 liters, which is sufficient for long runs. The suspension features 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels, telescopic inverted suspension in the front, and a pro-link swingarm in the rear. The seat height is set at 850mm, providing both good visibility and maneuverability. The manufacturer's suggested retail price is 1,430,000 yen, up 110,000 yen from the previous model. The planned annual sales volume in Japan is 300 units.
