The "Italian Bike Week 2026" was held in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Udine province, Italy, from September 17th to 20th. This motorcycle event, with free admission, attracted 135,000 visitors and is the third largest rally festival in Europe. A variety of content was offered, including test rides focusing on off-road models and a custom bike show.
Europe's Leading Motorcycle Event Attracts 135,000 People
The event was born from the success of the 2020 and 2021 "Biker Fest International," which were postponed to the end of summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 135,000 visitors this year, marking its fifth iteration, were announced by the Lignano Sabbiadoro Tourism Board. The event has solidified its position as the third largest motorcycle rally festival in Europe, following Biker Fest International and Austria's European Bike Week.
Riders gathered from not only European countries but also from around the world, including Australia, the United States, Canada, Russia, and Turkey. Gianpaolo Morelli, an actor and director known for the TV series "Inspector Coliandro," appeared as a special guest at the opening ceremony. He mentioned that he owns a Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 Iron himself and rides it daily through Rome's traffic.
The biggest difference from its sister event, Biker Fest, is its focus on off-road riding. Unpaved road models such as adventure, enduro, motocross, and scramblers were the main attractions, with each manufacturer showcasing their latest models. In the stadium area, Aprilia, Morbidelli, and Moto Guzzi held on-road test rides, while in the off-road arena, free dirt track test rides were offered on models from AJP, Yamaha, KTM, and Rieju.
Over 2,000 Test Rides and Diverse Entertainment Offered
Honda provided test vehicles in both on-road and off-road areas, and also conducted a Young Riders School for beginners. Test rides held throughout the weekend totaled over 2,000 for the entire event. Rieju unveiled its new 2027 model, the "MR300i," for the first time in Italy. Custom vehicle displays were also featured, with the annual Custom Bike Show complemented by a contest specializing in off-road customs.
In addition to test rides, a 7km enduro course open to both professionals and amateurs, and enduro moto-therapy for people with disabilities were available. The main stage hosted book presentations and talk sessions by experts on the theme of psychological recovery after traffic accidents. The Lunapark area featured 130 stands, and live performances by 11 bands enlivened the weekend. Furthermore, a display of over 200 American cars and a parade where thousands of motorcycles rode through the city at dusk were also held.
Organizer Moreno Persello expressed his surprise and satisfaction at the event's growth to such a scale in just five years since its inception. His son, Miky Persello, explained that the format of test rides from multiple brands benefits both manufacturers and customers. The event plans to continue introducing new initiatives, focusing on the off-road sector.
