The standard model is priced at a surprising 1,463,000 yen.
What surprised us about the Bimota KB399 was its ultra-strategic price. Although the frame and engine are based on the ZX-4R, the standard model is priced at 1,463,000 yen, just 253,000 yen more than the 1,210,000 yen ZX-4RR, and is equipped with a specially designed cowl, Brembo Stylema radial mount monoblock calipers, Akrapovic The "Tuned by Bimota" model equipped with a specially designed cowl, Brembo Stylema radial-mount monoblock calipers, Akrapovic titanium silencers, and other features can only be called a bargain price. The upper grade "KB399 ES" is priced at 2,453,000 yen, about 1 million yen higher than the previous model. However, the full carbon cowl and Öhlins STX46 rear shock are not expensive considering its features. The "ES" stands for "Edizione Speciale," which means "Special Edition.
The standard "KB399" was displayed at the Osaka Motorcycle Show. The design is similar to that of the "KB998 Rimini" and is a powerful supersport.
Pierluigi Marconi, Bimota's technical director, described the KB399 as an "espresso di bimota" (one that concentrates the essence of Bimota), saying, "Have you ever fallen in love with an engine? When I rode the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR, I immediately fell in love with this parallel four-cylinder engine with a distinctive presence. I also felt that it could be the heart of a very exciting new model that would embody the essence of the Bimota brand. We built on an already accomplished base with carefully calculated handling improvements. In doing so, we are confident that we have been able to distill the essence of riding that Bimota has to offer into this exciting four-cylinder machine." These are the words that accompany the KB399 product information. As the Bimota brand's original frame was its most distinctive feature, there are pros and cons to producing a model that uses the frame of the base model. However, the KB399's price of 1,463,000 yen is sure to be a catalyst for raising the profile of the Bimota brand several notches. The riders who grow up with the KB399 will become established Bimota users, and will be able to move up to higher performance models, which will further develop the Bimota brand. The KB399, which takes full advantage of the potential of its partner Kawasaki, will be the key to taking Vimota to the next phase of its development.
The front cowl features a large air intake in the center. The rear view is sharp with the Bimota's typical coloring.
Bimota's beautiful design and high quality finishes
The design of the KB399 is racy, in the vein of the KB998 Rimini, designed and sculpted by Bimota craftsmen in Rimini, Italy, and the ES model features dry carbon fiber upper, sides, and lower cowl, reminiscent of a WSB machine. The ES model features dry carbon fiber upper, side and lower cowls and winglets reminiscent of WSB machines.
The distinctive front cowl design and coloring asserts that it is a Bimota. The center air intake and side-mounted winglets are sporty
The chassis is based on the red-painted ZX-4R frame and combines carefully selected high-quality chassis components that maximize the performance of the compact, highly rigid frame. The front suspension is a fully adjustable 41mm diameter Showa SFF-BP inverted fork, while the rear suspension is a Showa BFRC Lite for the standard model and an Ohlins STX46 for the ES model. The front brakes are equipped with Brembo's highly acclaimed Stylema radial-mount monoblock calipers, creating a riding feel that is unique to the Bimota. The power unit is based on a ZX-4R-based liquid-cooled, DOHC, in-line four-cylinder 399cc engine with an Akrapovic titanium silencer. Specifications have not been disclosed at this time, but the maximum output of 59 kW (80 PS)/14500 rpm and maximum torque of 39 Nm (4.0 kgm)/13000 rpm of the ZX-4R are not expected to be lower than those of the ZX-4R.
Machined aluminum parts are used in all parts of the model, which gives it a sense of specialty that is typical of today's Bimota. The standard model has a triple clamp and steering stem cap made of machined aluminum, while the ES has a handlebar, step, shift and brake pedals made of machined aluminum, and the step and pedals are adjustable.
The standard KB399 is priced at 1,463,000 yen and the KB399 ES at 2,453,000 yen and is scheduled to go on sale around spring 2027.
