MOTO Legacy's ZRX1200R
This is a Kawasaki ZRX1200R custom built by MOTO Legacy in Shiga, known for presenting ideas for a classic motorcycle lifestyle within a diverse range of motorcycle scenes. "This bike is owned by a familiar customer, who consulted with us about installing FCR carburetors. At that time, the mileage had reached 50,000 km, so we performed an overhaul on the upper part of the engine and refreshed it by fitting ZZR1200 pistons and Yoshimura camshafts. Instead of replacing the carburetors, we set up the original CVK carburetors with a power filter, which made it easier to ride and boosted the power to around 150 ps at the rear axle. We also enhanced the suspension, incorporating Ohlins springs for the front forks and the rear shocks have also been replaced with Ohlins. Although the swingarm remains stock, we had it reinforced with the 'Type R reinforcement' carried out by Pegasus in Fukuoka. The ride is much sharper now," says Mr. Tateishi, the representative of the shop. The outcome of this refresh and mild tuning exceeded our initial expectations when considering the transition to FCR carburetors.
"At our shop, we highly recommend these types of refreshment menus. The ZRX series has been requested or seen more often recently. While the DAEG is a bit expensive, I believe the 1100/1200 models are great choices to enjoy customization, just like this one here," he adds. MOTO Legacy's concept of "classic" can also be seen as a standard. If that's the case, we would like to use this bike as an example to follow.
Handle
A center brace has been added to the handlebar. A Yoshimura Progress Meter has also been added to the top center of the meter panel. The steering stem remains stock.
Both the left and right master cylinders have been changed to NISSIN Radial Pumps to enhance the operational feel. The throttle has also been replaced with an Active High Throttle.
Bodyworks
The windshield has been replaced with an MRA Smoke Windshield, while the bikini cowl for mounting this and other exterior components like the fuel tank remains stock.
The double-type seat has been changed from the stock patterned leather to a Tuck n' Roll type, and white piping has been added to the front end and sides.
Chassis
The stock 43mm diameter internal springs of the front forks were replaced with Ohlins Springs, and the brake calipers were replaced with Brembo Calipers to enhance power and balance.
The rear shock was also replaced with an Ohlins. The swingarm is the stock aluminum truss, and it has been reinforced with Pegasus Type R Enhancements. The enhancements involve plates connecting the upper and lower sections of the stock end portion, angle bars connecting the upper and lower middle sections, and V-shaped reinforcements directed towards the left and right connecting pipes just in front of the tire from the front side of the lower pipe.
