This project introduces one bike that the editorial department is interested in from the "My Bikes" posted on the Webike Community. This time, we are featuring the YAMAHA "XSR125", owned by "Yu".
XSR125 (125cc) Owner: Yu
The Yamaha "XSR125" is a sports model in the 125cc class that appeared as the youngest brother of the neo-retro style "XSR" series. While it inherits the classical and sophisticated design DNA of its larger siblings, the XSR900 and XSR700, it has gained support from a wide range of riders due to its easy-to-handle 125cc displacement.
The engine is a liquid-cooled single-cylinder, and a major feature is the Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system. This allows for both ease of handling at low speeds and smooth acceleration at high speeds. It also adopts authentic equipment such as inverted front forks and a Deltabox frame, providing riding performance and a sense of ownership that exceeds its class. Its depth of character, which makes it useful as both a daily commuter and a hobby bike, from city riding to touring, is its charm.
Owner Yu purchased this XSR125 as a fuel-efficient second bike after switching from a large motorcycle. They have given their beloved bike the cute nickname "Chibi," and it is clear that they are fully enjoying the wine-red body color and the sound when the VVA activates.
<From MY Bike Comments>
■ Purchase Motivation, Usage, and Comparison Models
I wanted a fuel-efficient second bike after switching to a large motorcycle.
■ Pros
It's cool, and the wine-red body is cute.
The sound when the VVA kicks in is a pleasure. Because it's 125cc, it's easy to take out.
■ Cons
It can't be helped, but the 1st gear doesn't have much pull.
If you want to keep up with cars, you have to use the VVA, so the fuel economy inevitably gets worse.
■ Advice for those considering buying one
I changed the muffler from the start, so I don't know the stock sound, but the change from the good single-cylinder thumping sound to when the VVA kicks in is very fun.
Although the price is high, I think it's a bike you won't regret riding.
■ Future Custom Plans
I want to add a carrier or side bags to increase cargo capacity.
