To meet the need for stylish and comfortable daily commuting, the "Yamaha Fazzio" was planned as a scooter that emphasizes styling. While equipped with a simple air-cooled 4-stroke 125cc engine in a casually designed body, it is packed with features such as idling stop, smartphone connectivity, and a smart motor generator system for quiet engine starts. This article provides a real-world impression of the Fazzio, including its power assist function, which is a first for a domestic model!

Design Concept: "Hello, Simple"
Inheriting the common icon of Yamaha fashion scooters, the "Fazzio" features a styling that flows from front to back, reminiscent of the Japanese character "shinnyo." Oval motifs are incorporated into various parts of the body, achieving a simple yet casual style. In addition to the light blue shown in the image, colors include leaf green, pastel yellow, and black, for a total of four colors.
The Fazzio was designed with the concept of "Hello, Simple." It is a fashion-oriented scooter originally developed for the ASEAN market, with the theme of being "wearable like everyday clothes, yet highly fashionable and easy to coordinate with the rider's fashion." Since its launch in Indonesia in 2022, it has been extremely popular, and its domestic model made its debut in April 2026.
The Fazzio is powered by an air-cooled 124cc single-cylinder engine, a Blue Core engine based on the one released in 2017 for the Axis Z. Developed with a focus on "high-efficiency combustion," "reduced loss," and "high cooling performance," it features a fusion of riding performance and environmental performance at a high level.
This engine is equipped with a Smart Motor Generator (SMG), which integrates the starter motor and generator functions, enabling a one-push start feature that starts the engine with a single press of the starter button. It also features a stop & start system that automatically stops the engine when stationary and restarts it simply by turning the throttle when moving off again. Other convenient features include Y-Connect for smartphone integration, a USB Type-A socket, and a smart key system.
The body design is simple and timeless, like everyday wear, to avoid becoming tiresome over long periods of use. However, the headlights, taillights, and meter panel are unified with an oval motif. The Fazzio establishes its unique styling with features like carabiner-shaped convenience hooks and oval icons placed in various locations.
While the Fazzio balances simplicity and multifunctionality, its notable feature is the "power assist" function, adopted for the first time in a domestic model. This system uses the SMG as a motor to supplement the engine's torque, providing drive force assistance for up to approximately 3 seconds when accelerating from a standstill, especially when the throttle is opened wide or quickly. According to the development staff, "when the throttle is fully opened from a standstill, there is a difference of about half to one bike length at the 30-meter mark with or without assist."
The headlights are LED, and the turn signals are bulb-type. Oval motifs are used for the headlights, turn signals, and the Yamaha emblem area.
The under-seat storage has a capacity of 19.1L. The Japanese specification has a 2L larger capacity than the Indonesian specification to accommodate a Yamaha genuine YJ-14 jet helmet. The protrusion on the left edge is the helmet holder.
The "Fazzio" logo mark is on the front of the side panel, and the "F-BAR" color graphic is on the rear, enhancing the fashionability.
Checking the Fazzio's Ground Reach
The rider is 172cm tall. The seat height is 765mm, allowing the rider to place the soles of their feet firmly on the ground. The floor is 235mm at its narrowest point, but the foot placement area is wide and offers good freedom.
The front of the seat is narrow and shaped for easy leg placement, allowing the rider to place the soles of both feet firmly on the ground.
When both feet are on the ground, the heels are also slightly raised. "Since the bike is light, there is no concern about ground reach even when standing on tiptoes with both feet."
Lightweight Body is Easy to Handle and Comfortable for Commuting
The body, with its good ground reach, is lightweight at 97kg, making it easy to push and maneuver. The riding feel is also light and nimble, making U-turns effortless. It is easy to handle even on narrow roads, demonstrating a high level of completion as a city commuter.
The Fazzio's body is notable for its simple, everyday-wear-like design. The outer covers are designed with appropriate thickness and strength while optimizing plate thickness. Furthermore, the lightweight air-cooled Blue Core engine was adopted to balance riding performance and cost. By placing the fuel tank under the seat and focusing on overall weight reduction, the bike achieves a curb weight of 97kg. This is the second lightest among Yamaha's 125cc scooters, following the JOG125 at 95kg.
The lightweight body directly translates to ease of handling, and the center stand can be easily used. The air-cooled Blue Core engine delivers torque from idle with just a slight throttle opening, providing sufficient acceleration to keep up with traffic flow. When maintaining a steady throttle in this range, the "ECO" indicator lights up on the meter. This indicates "environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient riding," and the Fazzio demonstrates sufficient performance even in this mode.
The 12-inch wide tires front and rear provide good straight-line stability. Combined with the lightweight body, the handling is light and nimble, making it easy to control the machine with agility. The front and rear suspension offer a smooth stroke on well-maintained roads, providing a comfortable ride. However, on rougher surfaces, some jarring impacts could be felt.
Additionally, engine vibrations can be felt through the handlebar grips at idle. While not immediately uncomfortable, the idling stop function is convenient in such situations. When stopped at a traffic light, the engine stops, eliminating vibrations. The engine restarts smoothly as soon as the throttle is opened, allowing for continuous, uninterrupted riding.
The lightweight and easy-to-handle body contributes to stress-free riding even with minimal throttle input, making it approachable for beginners. For those seeking a stylish and easy-to-handle commuter, the Fazzio is a highly recommended choice.
Excellent Starting Dash with "Power Assist"!
The "power assist" function provides a quick start dash, and subsequent acceleration is smooth. The Fazzio, with its lightweight body, is a top-class speedy scooter in the 125cc class.
The Fazzio's air-cooled Blue Core engine delivers practical torque from idle, and acceleration is smooth. Its user-friendly engine characteristics across the entire range, combined with the ease of machine control due to its light handling, make it a highly complete city commuter.
The simple body design, distinct from Yamaha's current scooter lineup, is likely to appeal to a different demographic, including women and younger riders. Furthermore, the availability of optional parts to change the color of the headlight, taillight, and front/rear turn signal rings, as well as the seat cover, adds to the enjoyment by allowing for personalized color coordination.
However, the Fazzio's most significant feature is not just its fashionability. When the throttle is opened wide during acceleration, the power assist function delivers a brisk start dash, providing a surprising sportiness that belies its cute appearance.
The Fazzio is equipped with an SMG that integrates the generator and engine starter functions, allowing for quiet engine starts. By passing electricity in the reverse direction to the generator, it functions as a motor, increasing the driving force. This power assist system adds the motor's driving force to the combustion torque generated by the engine. Given that it uses the same Blue Core engine as the Axis Z, adding motor assist naturally results in superior acceleration.
While the motor's drive assist lasts for a maximum of approximately 3 seconds, the inertia continues afterward, and the engine's acceleration is sustained, so there is no abrupt power drop or loss of speed. In fact, the brisk start dash and subsequent smooth acceleration feel top-tier for a 125cc scooter. For users who frequently ride tandem or carry luggage, the Fazzio's power assist function will be a great help in supporting smooth starts.
Personally, I felt that if the handlebar position were a few centimeters higher, it would be easier to apply more front-end load, allowing for even sportier riding. However, I reconsidered, realizing this is a judgment beyond the original concept of a fashion scooter. Nevertheless, the Fazzio is light, fast, and its start dash using the power assist is quite agile. It's a truly Yamaha-like model that offers not only a cute fashion scooter appeal but also the enjoyment of sporty riding.
