ACTIVE exhibited this "153 GARAGE" custom at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show. Differing from their usual customizations, this custom has a classic look that is not too aggressive and has just the right balance. We'll show you the details here.

New clip-on handlebar kit is sure to be a hit!

The Z650RS, released in 2022, has already been fully customized by ACTIVE's "153 GARAGE". They are a custom brand with a neo-classic theme. Their first custom was the GB350 that was displayed at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show in 2022. The Z650RS that they have created this time is a modern version of the cafe racer theme, with many new parts that give off a totally new look.

The highlight is the conversion of the stock 17-inch front and rear wheels to GALE SPEED 18-inch wheels for a nostalgic look. The tires are now as narrow as a 250cc class bike, with the front converted from 120 to 110 and the rear from 160 to 140, bringing them closer to the size of air-cooled Zappers. The clip-on handlebars are mounted to create a cafe racer style, and 153 GARAGE has also developed a top bridge to go with them. Along the lines of the 153 concept, they are designed to provide both an optimal ride position and a retro look.

Z650RS Custom [153 GARAGE] This Z650RS in the 50th anniversary Candy Diamond Brown/Orange color was customized with a set of clip-on handlebars to give it a cafe racer style. The front and rear 18-inch wheels are stylish.

■Equipped with GALE SPEED's Forged Aluminum Type-N Wheels. The size has been changed from the stock 350-17 to 275-18 for a lighter turnaround, making wide arc cornering possible.

■The rear is resized from the stock 450-17 to 400-18. The reduction ratio has been lengthened to give a feeling that emphasizes the throbbing of the two-cylinder engine. The weight is reduced by 0.7kg for the front and 1.76kg for the rear, for a total weight reduction of 2.46kg.

153 GARAGE's Top Bridge & Clip-on Handlebar Kit (77,000 JPY) has a simple appearance and a classic look. The kit also includes brake hoses and wires, making it easy to use. Also available in black.

■Equipped with GALE SPEED's VRD "Dark Edition" Forged Aluminum Master Cylinder (52,800 JPY). Minimal cutting is used to emphasize the forged texture, and it is finished with black hard anodizing.

GALE SPEED's Wire Clutch Holder Kit "Dark Edition" (49,500 JPY) is also installed. The kit has adjustable functions for wire play and lever position.

Rearset kit designed to match with clip-on handlebars

The Z650RS was also equipped with 153 GARAGE's newly developed rearset. This rearset was designed to match with the aforementioned Top Bridge & Clip-on Handlebar Kit to create a riding position reminiscent of a naked racer. The simple shape beautifully suits the neo-classic model.

■The Rearset Kit (60,500 JPY) can use the stock brake hose and switch, allowing easy replacement without draining fluid. It has a machined step bar for great grip.

■The one-position, non-adjustable design is 38mm back and 53mm up. It brings the look together when installed along with the clip-on handlebars.

Low cost machined axial calipers!

The Z650RS was also equipped with billet axial calipers, which will be released as a mid-range model by GALE SPEED. They are machined to provide sufficient performance while thoroughly reducing cost. Not only will they be the best match for upright forks, but they will also be leveled up compared to cast calipers.

■The billet axial front caliper is an opposing 4-pot with 34mm and 30mm diameter pistons. It is scheduled to be released in the fall and is priced at 44,000 JPY. A Caliper Support is under development and set at 14,080 JPY.

■The billet axial rear caliper is an opposing 2-pot with 34mm diameter pistons. This caliper is also scheduled to be released in the fall and is priced at 33,000 JPY. The Caliper Support will be 22,000 JPY (also under development).
