Shaking off rumors of its discontinuation, the 2026 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, newly equipped with winglets, has finally been announced for its Japanese version, to be released in the summer of 2026.

Equipped with winglets, the Ninja ZX-10R will also be available in a circuit-oriented RR lineup.

Newly equipped on the 2026 Ninja ZX-10R are large winglets, which enhance the front end's ground contact feel when cornering and provide a high degree of control. The new face also represents the next-generation Ninja supersport family image that matches the winglets. The engine maintains the performance proven in Superbike World Championship competition, while improving emissions performance. The electronic control package inherited from the previous model continues to support precision riding, while new features such as a TFT meter with turn-by-turn navigation make it more convenient as a street model. In addition to the base Ninja ZX-10R model, the Ninja ZX-10RR, a single-seat model limited to 500 units, is equipped with Pankl titanium connecting rods, lightweight pistons, and special suspension and is designed for circuit riding. The Ninja ZX-10RR will be available in a limited edition of 500.

New design with winglets as the centerpiece

The angle of the winglets, the most distinctive feature, has been optimized in consideration of downforce (ClfA) and aerodynamic drag (CdA). The larger winglets slightly increase aerodynamic drag (+0.3%) compared to the previous model, but they also increase downforce by approximately 25% and improve the ground contact of the front wheels. The more effective winglets contribute to improved body stability, especially at high speeds (e.g., circuit driving). When entering a corner, the downforce generated by the winglets increases the ground contact of the front wheel and provides good feedback from the front. This allows the rider to corner with a greater sense of security. In addition, the winglets are designed not to react excessively to changes in riding attitude such as acceleration, deceleration, and banking during cornering. Excessive load changes on the front wheels are suppressed, resulting in nimble and natural handling and high turning speeds. The winglets are made of ABS plastic for high durability and quality, and the upper portion blends naturally with the chin spoiler under the headlight, maintaining the identity of the Kawasaki Ninja series. The upper part naturally blends with the chin spoiler under the headlight, maintaining the identity of the Kawasaki Ninja series. The new design also blends with the graphics on the body side, achieving a three-dimensional, integrated style.

The winglets, which generate optimal downforce, are designed to increase the ground contact of the front wheels and prevent excessive reactions to changes in driving attitude, such as acceleration, deceleration, and banking during cornering.

The larger winglets increase aerodynamic drag by 0.3% compared to the previous model, but downforce is improved by approximately 25%.

The Ninja ZX-10R's new headlight features a compact projector/reflector hybrid-type design, giving the Ninja ZX-10R a striking new face. The headlight's low beam is a compact plastic projector lamp (monofocus LED), while the high beam and position light are black reflector type. The entire interior of the headlight is black, making the non-lit portions of the headlight appear dark and creating a fearless look. The black plastic extension between the low and high beams contributes to the overall black image and high-quality finish. A newly shaped ram air intake is positioned above the headlight, with ABS plastic fins that efficiently direct driving air into the ducts, creating a high-performance Ninja series appearance. In addition, the ram air ducts are painted gloss black to resemble the fangs of a predator, which, together with the body graphics, enhances the aggressive look of the vehicle.

The 2026 model not only has winglets installed, but the face design, including the headlights, has been completely redesigned.

The side and tail cowls are completely redesigned to match the revamped front cowl. The new side and tail cowls form a sharp wedge-shaped form that smoothly continues from front to rear, powerfully embodying the styling concept of the next-generation supersport. In contrast to the nearly horizontal line connecting the screen and tandem seat, the lower part of the body forms a line that rises sharply toward the rear. This line begins at the bottom of the front tire, passes through the air outlet lines on the side cowl, and connects to the bottom of the tail cowl. The wedge-shaped styling created by these lines creates a sense of acceleration and speed even when the machine is stationary. In addition, the area of the side cowls (upper and middle) has been enlarged to create a more concentrated frontal area. The ZX-10RR is also designed with a single seat, giving the rear area a more sporty look.

The ZX-10RR is a single seat version and does not feature a step for a tandem.

The 2026 model evolves both engine and chassis.

The engine is a 998cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, in-line four-cylinder, while maintaining the performance of the previous model, with cleaner exhaust emissions and improved cooling. An O2 sensor has been added downstream of the catalyst and combined with an upstream sensor to improve emission performance. In addition, the quality of the catalyst has been improved while its size has been reduced to minimize weight gain. The 2026 Ninja ZX-10RR shares the same valve drive system (including camshafts) as the standard model. Exclusively equipped lightweight Pankl pistons and connecting rods deliver exhilarating airflow for exciting circuit riding.

The frame and engine are based on the previous model, but with cleaner exhaust emissions and improved dynamic performance.

The ZX-10RR uses Pankl pistons and connecting rods for a more exhilarating blow.

The chassis and suspension are tuned for winglet efficiency, maintaining the excellent control and nimble handling performance that has been highly acclaimed in previous models, while accommodating the increased front downforce caused by the winglets. The chassis geometry and suspension have been revised to improve overall driving performance.

The body setup has been optimized by changing the amount of front fork protrusion and the pivot position.

The pivot position of the swing arm has been set 2 mm higher than the previous model to improve rear tire traction performance. As a result, the secondary turning force that pushes the vehicle from the rear side during a turn is increased, and more aggressive cornering maneuvering is possible due to improved rear-side steering. In addition, the lever ratio of the rear suspension links has been changed to maximize rear tire traction performance. By changing the spring rate from 95 N/mm to 92.5 N/mm, the damping setting has been optimized to facilitate pitching. This has resulted in improved control during acceleration from mid-corner to exiting the corner. The front forks were changed from 3mm to 1mm protrusion to reduce forward lean, and the settings were optimized accordingly. The ZX-10RR also has a tungsten carbide titanium coating on the outer surface of the fork inner tube to reduce sliding resistance and improve actuation, while the rear suspension spring preload and damping settings are also specially designed. A mechanical Öhlins steering damper is fitted as standard equipment in the top bridge section, featuring an in-tube structure with one damper and the other functioning as a reservoir tank, providing stable damping characteristics and excellent absorption even under harsh conditions such as racing. The precisely machined damper also features an integrated clamp, which reduces friction during piston reciprocation. This contributes to smoother initial movement. The Ninja ZX-10R is equipped with BATTLAX RACING STREET RS12 tires, the latest high-grip street tires jointly developed by Kawasaki and Bridgestone, while the Ninja ZX-10RR is equipped with Pirelli's World Superbike Championship-proven Supercorsa SP (V3) tires, proven in the Superbike World Championship.

The bike is equipped with BFF (balance-free front forks) and brakes are Brembo M50 monoblock calipers with ø330mm discs.
