MotoGP™ Machine Appears at JR Utsunomiya Station Platform! Let's Go to the Japan GP via Shinkansen & LRT

The "2026 FIM MotoGP™ World Championship Series Round 16 MOTUL Grand Prix of Japan" will be held at Mobility Resort Motegi in Tochigi Prefecture from Friday, October 2 to Sunday, October 4, 2026. Ahead of the event, a MotoGP™ machine was displayed on the platform at JR Utsunomiya Station. Although the machine display has ended, life-sized panels of the machine and riders remain on display.

From Friday, September 4 to Sunday, September 6, the Honda RC213V, dressed in the team colors of Honda HRC Castrol, which competes in MotoGP™, was displayed on Platform 5 (Nikko Line) at JR Utsunomiya Station.

While the three-day limited machine display ended on Sunday, September 6, life-sized panels of the competing riders and the MotoGP™ machine are currently on display. The panels are scheduled to be displayed until 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 4, the final day of the Grand Prix of Japan.

The location is the Tokyo-bound end of Platform 5 (Nikko Line) at JR Utsunomiya Station. Since the display is inside the station, an admission ticket or a valid train ticket is required to view it.

Also worth noting this time is that you can reach Mobility Resort Motegi from JR Utsunomiya Station using only public transportation.

About 2 Hours from Tokyo by Public Transport! Get to "Motegi" via Shinkansen + LRT + Shuttle Bus

When heading to the Grand Prix of Japan from the Tokyo metropolitan area using public transportation, JR Utsunomiya Station serves as one of the main access hubs. You can reach Utsunomiya Station from Tokyo Station in about 50 minutes via the Tohoku Shinkansen.

While Mobility Resort Motegi might be strongly associated with traveling by car or motorcycle, "LRT Smart Access" is available from Utsunomiya Station, combining the Haga-Utsunomiya LRT "Lightline" and the reservation-based shuttle bus "Motegi GP Express Haga."

Vehicles with special collaboration wrapping to commemorate the Grand Prix of Japan are also in operation

Board the Lightline at the "Utsunomiya Station East Exit" stop, located just outside the east exit of JR Utsunomiya Station, and travel for about 40 minutes to the "Haga Town Industrial Park Management Center" stop. From there, transfer to the "Motegi GP Express Haga" and arrive at Mobility Resort Motegi in about 30 minutes.

The estimated travel time for each section is as follows:

・Tokyo Station → JR Utsunomiya Station: Approx. 50 minutes via Tohoku Shinkansen
・Utsunomiya Station East Exit → Haga Town Industrial Park Management Center: Approx. 40 minutes via Lightline
・Haga Town Industrial Park Management Center → Mobility Resort Motegi: Approx. 30 minutes via shuttle bus

Excluding transfers and waiting times, the total travel time from Tokyo Station to Mobility Resort Motegi is about 2 hours. Although Mobility Resort Motegi is often thought of as a place to visit by car or motorcycle, it is surprisingly accessible from Tokyo using public transportation.

"Motegi GP Express Haga" Operates on October 3 and 4

The reservation-based shuttle bus "Motegi GP Express Haga," which connects the Haga Town Industrial Park Management Center and Mobility Resort Motegi, will operate on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4.

The fare is 2,500 yen one-way for both adults and children. Users of the "16-23 ZERO Yen Pass" for those aged 16 to 23 can ride for free by applying in advance. Since the number of free spots is limited, those who wish to use it should book early.

There is also the "Motegi GP Express Utsunomiya," which goes directly from the JR Utsunomiya Station East Exit to Mobility Resort Motegi without using the LRT. This service runs from Friday, October 2 to Sunday, October 4, with a one-way fare of 4,000 yen.

In addition, reservation-based direct shuttle buses will also operate from Tokyo Station, Shinjuku Station, Mito Station, Tsukuba Station, Motegi Station, and other locations. A feature of the Grand Prix of Japan is that you can choose the access method that best suits your departure point and viewing schedule.
