Honda has unveiled the "Rebel" series, which is making its debut in India, as part of its new model announcements in the country. This 2027 model has been confirmed to feature a full-color LCD monitor, ahead of its global release. Will the new Japanese model also be updated!?

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), Honda's two-wheeler division in India, announced a range of new local models on July 24, 2026. Among the exciting new models were the new road sport "CB500" and the new trail bikes "XR300L" and "XR300 Rally." The Rebel 300/500 also made their Indian debut.

However, upon closer inspection of the Rebel, which is familiar in Japan, this new model features a full-color LCD. Previously, all Rebel models from 250 to 1100 used a round, inverted LCD monitor. In the 2025 model year, the Rebel 1100 was the first to feature a 5-inch full-color TFT monitor. However, this was a square type shared with other models, and the 250/500 have continued to use monochrome inverted LCDs until now. But if this new Rebel is officially announced, a full-color monitor will finally be adopted across the entire series.

According to the local information panel, this new meter also enables smartphone connectivity via "RoadSync" and the display of turn-by-turn navigation. These are new features not previously available.

However, to be precise, what was announced this time is the Rebel 300. This is deployed as the overseas version of the Rebel 250. Except for the displacement being 286cc, it has almost the same specifications as the 250, but it is treated as a separate model. Furthermore, it is manufactured in India, making its origin different from the Rebel 250, which is produced in Thailand. Nevertheless, it is highly probable that similar equipment will be installed on the Rebel 250! It can be said.

Rebel 500 adopts E-Clutch, so will the CL500 too?

The Rebel 300 is not the only model to change. The larger Rebel 500 also made its Indian debut at the same time, and this model is newly equipped with "E-Clutch." Introduced in 2024 as a revolutionary feature that eliminates the need for clutch operation, the E-Clutch was adopted for the 2026 models of the Rebel 250/CL250. It has been highly praised in the market for making clutch operation, a hurdle for beginners, very easy, and allowing experienced riders to focus on riding without mistakes. It has already become more popular than the standard model in the Rebel lineup.

It is natural for the E-Clutch to be adopted for the higher-end Rebel 500, and this is a new specification for which we eagerly await an announcement for its introduction in Japan. Furthermore, although not shown in India, it is reasonable to expect that the CL500, which shares the same engine, will also be available with the E-Clutch specification, similar to the 250.
