Marini Aims for Progress in Qualifying, Mir Vows to Perform Well at His Favorite Circuit

The 13th round of the 2026 FIM MotoGP World Championship, the Aragon GP, will be held this weekend at MotorLand Aragón. Luca Marini and Joan Mir from Honda HRC Castrol will compete, preparing to solidify their positions in the standings as the season nears its end.

Marini, currently 10th in the standings, is the only rider to have scored points in the Sunday race at every round this season. Having missed the 2025 GP due to injury, this will be his first time racing there since 2024. He recorded the fastest lap time and finished 7th in the 2022 race, making an improvement in qualifying crucial for advancing to higher positions.

Mir, on the other hand, lists MotorLand Aragón as one of his favorite circuits. He has achieved three podium finishes in the premier class in 2020 and 2021, and finished 7th in 2025. He aims to replicate his strong performance at the Czech GP in his home race in Spain.

Marini expressed his gratitude to the team, saying, "I am happy that we have been able to achieve consistent performances every weekend. This is thanks to the team's continuous improvements until we line up on the starting grid on Sunday." He further discussed the challenges and expectations for qualifying, stating, "Our consistency is very high, so we need to pick up the pace earlier in the weekend to make Saturday and Sunday afternoons a bit easier. I missed the Aragon GP last year due to injury, so I expect to have made significant progress since 2024."

Mir commented, "After Silverstone, it felt like we had another summer break, so I'm looking forward to racing again. Aragon is a circuit I really like, and I've had good results here in the past." He added, "Following our current approach, I aim to focus on each race and extract the maximum possible result from every weekend. I want to finish the season in the best way possible and reward the team, who are working so hard, with even better results."
