Norimaki's MONKEY
The "KATANA1135R" was a complete custom released by YOSHIMURA in 2001, limited to just five units. This Monkey build takes inspiration from that model. The frame is an OVER Racing OV-25, while the KATANA bodywork comes from a Jet Stream kit that was sold in the past and has been modified. Simply putting it on a 10-inch Monkey would look short and stubby, so the cowl was split and adjusted to reproduce the KATANA’s original proportions.
The raised lettering on the tank is handmade by the owner.
With a Monkey-based KATANA, the rear often ends up sitting higher, but this bike achieves a realistic, balanced stance. The undercowl isn't seen on the original 1135R, but was added deliberately for style.
Handlebar
To replicate the original KATANA’s length, the one-piece Jet Stream cowl has been split between the upper section and the tank. This adjustment brings the bike closer to the true KATANA silhouette.
Bodywork
The seat cover has been replaced to match the 1135R style. The rear shocks may be swapped for an Ohlins in the future, and relocating the rear turn signals would be another fun customization option.
Engine
The YOSHIMURA oil catch tank from the original era is a highly sought-after piece among KATANA enthusiasts. This build reproduces it with a custom one-off by Akaogi.
