SHOEI has released e:DRYLENS 304, an electronic light-dimming sheet that can change color in response to the brightness of light. This is a realization of the electronic light-dimming shield technology that was exhibited at the Motorcycle Show 2025 and attracted a great deal of attention for its fast response speed. The e:DRYLENS 304 is compatible with the CWR-F2/R shield used in the company's X-Fifteen, Z-8, and WYVERN ∅ models, and is priced at 25,000 yen for the seat itself and 6,000 yen for the controller.

The "e:DRYLENS 304" to be released this time is a thin light control sheet that is attached to the inside of the shield, and is an accessory that uses a two-layer structure combining a flexible transparent panel and a fog suppressing layer. Because it has the same structure as a so-called pin-lock sheet, it of course also functions as an anti-fogging device, but the most important point is that it can "automatically and instantaneously switch between clear and smoke". Although smoked shields have long been favored by users for their ability to reduce glare, they have the disadvantage of making vision too dark in dark places such as tunnels and at night. When riding at night, one solution is to carry a clear shield and replace it with a smoked one, but this requires a lot of luggage and time and effort. The disadvantage of smoked shields can be easily solved by installing e:DRYLENS. Two dimming modes can be selected. One is a mode in which a sensor reads the ambient light and automatically changes the brightness to the optimum level. The automatic mode is convenient when you do not want to spend time and effort to operate the system while driving. The other is a mode that manually switches between bright and dark states, which can be operated at the required timing by a dedicated controller. The light light mode has a light smoke transmission rate of 65%, but when darkened, it quickly changes to a dark smoke with a transmission rate of 20%.

The system operates on the built-in battery, which is recharged via the USB-C port. The battery can be used for about 20 hours from full charge, and the charging time is about 3 hours. This is long enough for day-trip touring or city driving. The e:DRYLENS is such a convenient product, but a compatible shield has been set, and the model released this time is compatible with the "CWR-F2" and "CWR-F2R".
