On June 3, 2026, Kawasaki Motors Japan announced the 2027 KX and KLX off-road series. The biggest highlight is the introduction of the KX327X, a new-generation 2-stroke cross-country racer. Following its announcement in North America, the KX327X will be introduced in Japan as soon as possible. In addition, the flagship KX450F/KX450FX motocrossers have undergone a full model change, with a total of nine models (KX327X / KX450F / KX450FX / KX250F / KX250FX / KX112 / KX85/KX85 L / KX65 / KLX230R/KLX230R S / KLX140R L / KLX110R L) are now available.

KX327X - 327cc 2-stroke revived for the modern age

Completely new model designed exclusively for cross-country riding, featuring a newly designed 327 cm³ liquid-cooled 2-stroke single-cylinder with Kawasaki's first fuel injection system. The chassis is based on the lightweight aluminum perimeter frame of the KX450 motocrosser, achieving a lightweight chassis comparable to the 4-stroke 250 class.

The engine is Kawasaki's first 2-stroke engine with FI, and its auto-compensation function eliminates the need for jetting adjustments. It has flat and smooth power output characteristics that are easy to handle from very low to high RPM ranges. An electric starter allows for quick restarting even after a fall, and two power modes can be selected with the handlebar switch. The KX2 is also compatible with the "RIDEOLOGY THE APP KX2" smartphone app, which allows users to record driving logs via GPS connection, real-time engine monitoring, and maintenance reminder functions. The drivetrain uses a hydraulic clutch for lightweight operation and a 6-speed transmission for a wide range of driving situations. The suspension is a combination of coil-spring φ48mm inverted front forks and a new Wet Rack rear suspension with fine-tuned settings. The braking system combines a Brembo brake system with Φ270mm front and Φ240mm rear discs to ensure high stopping power. In terms of equipment, a large 8.6L resin tank, hand pump plate, skid plate, linkage guard, rear brake disc guard, and side stand are standard, and ODI lock-on grips enhance ease of operation and replacement. The KX450 series, the top-of-the-line motocrosser, has also been thoroughly upgraded in terms of both engine and chassis. Improved intake and exhaust systems and optimized FI settings significantly increase throttle response, while at the same time, the new engine combines low-rpm power with increased mid- to high-rpm output to deliver powerful acceleration from the exit of corners to the straights. A newly designed frame and improved swingarm provide better rear-wheel traction and control, and an extended wheelbase enhances straight-line stability.

The brake system features Brembo components front and rear for high stopping power and excellent control. The KX2 is now compatible with the RIDEOLOGY THE APP KX2 smartphone app, which allows users to adjust engine settings and electronic controls, as well as monitor vehicle status. Electronic control includes three power modes (Normal/Mild) as well as Kawasaki Traction Control (2 modes + OFF) and Launch Control to boost even starting traction performance. Styling is consistent with the Ninja ZX series, using the same graphic approach to create a unified racing design. [250 class] KX250F / KX250FX - The "F" designation is back

With the introduction of the 2-stroke KX, the 4-stroke KX once again bears the "F" designation, based on the engine/chassis that evolved significantly for the 2025 model year, with an improved combustion chamber and exhaust system for more power at all rpm, and a larger capacity clutch for improved drive power transfer efficiency. The exhaust pipe has been extended by 88mm to increase low rpm torque, while the silencer has been shortened by 50mm to achieve a weight reduction of 230g. Maximum output and torque were increased by 0.5 kW and 0.3 N-m, respectively.

Both the front and rear suspensions have been completely renewed, and the initial cylinder pressure and settings have been reviewed to improve tracking and shock absorption on rough surfaces. The rear suspension has also been completely renewed, from friction reduction to compression and rebound damping and bushing settings. The electrical system offers two power modes, normal and aggressive, with the aggressive mode providing more powerful and linear response compared to normal while suppressing a specific feeling in the low rpm range.
