Jorge Martín took pole to win in the MotoGP British Grand Prix sprint race held at Silverstone, marking his second sprint victory of the season. Ai Ogura finished second, and Marco Bezzecchi took third, with Aprilia achieving their first-ever 1-2-3 finish in a sprint race.

At the British Grand Prix sprint race held at the Silverstone Circuit in the UK, championship leader Jorge Martín (Aprilia Racing) delivered a commanding performance. Starting from pole position, Martín executed a flawless start and led every lap of the 10-lap race, securing his second sprint victory of the season. He has now extended his lead over second-placed Ai Ogura (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team) to 17 points, solidifying his advantage in the title chase.

The early stages of the race saw pole-sitter Martín take the lead, with Ogura in second place in pursuit. Further back, Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team), Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing), and Marc Márquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) engaged in a fierce battle for the top positions. On lap 4, Raúl Fernández (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team), who was closing in on Bezzecchi, lost the front at Turn 4 and crashed out, forcing him to retire.

While the leading Martín controlled the pace and built a solo lead, second-placed Ogura maintained a steady pace in pursuit. After fending off attacks from Di Giannantonio, Ogura managed to minimize the points deficit to championship leader Martín, impressively securing a second-place podium finish.

Bezzecchi's Charge Completes Aprilia 1-2-3 Sweep, Márquez Hampered by Rear Grip Issues

The latter half of the race produced significant drama in the battle for third place. Bezzecchi, returning from injury, caught Marc Márquez ahead of him on the exit of Copse corner to move into fourth place. He then rapidly closed the 1.1-second gap to Di Giannantonio, who was struggling with pace. On the penultimate lap, Bezzecchi passed Di Giannantonio at Turn 9 to claim third place and a podium spot. Bezzecchi, who fought through the adversity of his injury, was seen shedding tears after the race.

Meanwhile, Marc Márquez struggled with a lack of rear grip, experiencing a significant drop in pace towards the end of the race. He was successively overtaken by Álex Márquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP), Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), and Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol). On the final lap, he was also passed by Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team). Marc Márquez narrowly held onto ninth place by a margin of just 0.027 seconds, securing only one point.

The result saw Martín in first, Ogura in second, and Bezzecchi in third, marking the first-ever 1-2-3 sprint race finish for riders on Aprilia machinery. Álex Márquez finished as the highest-placed Ducati rider in fourth, followed by Di Giannantonio in fifth, Acosta in sixth, Mir in seventh, and Morbidelli in eighth. All eyes will be on Sunday's 20-lap main race to see if anyone can stop Martín's momentum.
