With its unique style typical of Italian bikes and an attractive slim frame, the Moto Morini 250 2C is a machine that has been sleeping for a long time, which I have now acquired and am enjoying as I gradually customize it to my liking.

What is the Moto Morini 250 2C?
Moto Morini is a long-established motorcycle manufacturer founded in Italy in 1937. It has produced many unique models with creative engines and chassis configurations.
The 250 2C introduced here is a model equipped with a 239cc V-twin engine that appeared in the late 1970s. It is an appealing machine with a compact body, a slim double-cradle frame, and the distinctive styling characteristic of Italian cars.
It is by no means a major model in Japan, and it is rare to see one on the streets today. We asked the owner who acquired this rare Italian bike about its charm and how they live with it.
Purchased a vehicle won at auction by an acquaintance
The owner got the 250 2C after an acquaintance won it at an auction.
"I bought the vehicle that an acquaintance had won at an auction but left unused. I was originally looking for an Italian bike, so it was a good connection."
The model year is unknown, but it is said to be a vehicle from around 1980. I acquired a machine that had been sleeping for a long time and started riding it while checking its condition little by little.

Changed to a smaller Dell'Orto carburetor
One of the current custom points is the carburetor.
Although it originally used a square Dell'Orto carburetor, the owner changed it to a smaller Dell'Orto carburetor because the original was "a bit too big."
However, changing the carburetor created new challenges.
"Since I changed the carburetor, I've entered the swamp of fuel adjustment. It runs well even now, but I haven't been able to draw out its full potential yet."
I am in the middle of exploring the bike's original performance while fine-tuning the settings.

The carburetor was changed from the original Italian Dell'Orto square type to a smaller type from the same company
Spoke wheels with Honda engravings
Another eye-catching feature is the currently installed spoke wheels.
It seems that these were changed by the previous owner, and the drum brake has a "HONDA" engraving. It is thought that parts from the CB series are used, but the details are not yet known.
The original 250 2C had cast wheels and disc brakes. Therefore, the current combination of spoke wheels and drum brakes creates a more classic atmosphere.
"The drum brake gives it a classic feel."
I am still considering what direction to take for future customization. It seems it will gradually change into a machine that suits my tastes.

The original was cast wheels + disc brakes, but it has been changed to spoke wheels + drum brakes since the previous owner's time
I love the tank mark and the thin frame
The owner is particularly fond of the Moto Morini mark on the tank.
"The manufacturer's mark on the tank, which I can't tell if it's original or hand-painted, is cute."
Whether it's original or someone added it, the fact that its origin is unknown is part of the charm of this vehicle.
And another favorite is the frame.
"Above all, the thin double-cradle frame is beautiful."
The slim frame that wraps around the engine has a delicate beauty not found in modern bikes.
No manuals, no parts, no information!
As a rare Italian bike, there are many difficulties in owning it.
"The biggest struggle is that there are almost no manuals, parts, or information."
When repairing or performing maintenance, I rely on AI and YouTube to gather information.
A recent big topic was that the timing belt actually snapped.
I couldn't find a service manual, and...
"I kept asking AI, and somehow the manual images from the home country appeared, and I managed to get by..."
I overcame the trouble while feeling my way through it.
With old cars where information is scarce, the wall is not the breakdown itself, but "not knowing how to fix it." In such a situation, I am maintaining this machine while searching for information even from overseas.

If there is no information, find it yourself. Such trial and error is one of the joys of maintaining a rare car.
"It's just cute"
Since it hasn't been long since I started riding it, memories with my beloved bike are yet to come.
Even so, the 250 2C has already become a special existence for the owner.
"It hasn't been long since I started riding it, but it's just cute."
And another thing I'm interested in is connecting with other Moto Morini riders.
"I'd like to meet people who ride Moto Morini. I want information."
Because it's a rare bike, information obtained from fellow owners of the same vehicle is valuable.
There are few manuals, parts, or information. Even so, relying on AI, YouTube, and information from friends, I am gradually closing the distance with this 250 2C.
Because it is a machine with many unknowns, I am looking forward to seeing what kind of form it will take in the future. The Moto Morini 250 2C is a bike whose changes are also something to look forward to.
