Yamaha Motor Sales Co., Ltd. will release a new moped-class fashion scooter, the Fazzio, on April 24, 2026. This ambitious model features a simple, modern design, a lightweight 97 kg body, and is the first Yamaha model in Japan to be equipped with a 124 cc engine with a "power assist" function, in which the motor assists driving force when starting off.

Simple design that is as casual and expandable as everyday clothing

Fazio" was first unveiled in Japan at the Osaka Motorcycle Show in the spring of 2025, and now its Japanese release has finally been announced. This retro-style moped scooter, based on the concept of "casual mobility like everyday clothes," combines functionality and fashion, and is equipped with a simple, fashion-independent surface structure on the exterior and detailed parts with a rounded, mainly curved silhouette. Weighing only 97 kg, it can be easily maneuvered and pushed around on a daily basis. The comfortable seat, designed specifically for the Japanese market, combined with the flat foot space of 235 mm in front and rear lengths, provides lightweight maneuverability and a comfortable position.

The seat height is kept at 765 millimeters, with emphasis on good footing thanks to the footboard edge shape that makes it easy to lower the legs. An oval oval motif is used throughout the vehicle, from the LED headlamps and LCD instrument panel to the carabiner-shaped hooks at the front and rear. Wide 12-inch tires are mounted on both the front and rear suspension to support a stable ride. The trunk under the seat has a capacity of 19.1 liters and can accommodate a jet helmet. The front section features a lidded pocket on the left side and an open pocket on the right side, as well as a USB charging socket for added convenience. In addition, a smart key system and a smartphone app are provided for a comfortable scooter lifestyle. As an added personal touch, the headlamp cover and instrument panel cover can be easily changed with optional accessories to suit the rider's preference. The base color variation is of course available in a total of four colors: leaf green with low saturation, light blue to complement the unique body design, pastel yellow with a soft impression of vitality, and black with vivid decals on the tight black metallic body. The lineup includes light blue, which accentuates the unique body design; pastel yellow, which is soft and vibrant; and black, which features bright decals on a tight black metallic body.

Engine that combines power-assist functionality and environmental performance, adopted for the first time in Japan

The power unit, which plays a key role in driving performance, is powered by a 124cc air-cooled 4-stroke single-cylinder engine that delivers both driving pleasure and environmental performance at a high level. Designed based on the Blue Core philosophy, which focuses on highly efficient combustion, high cooling performance, and loss reduction, the engine delivers a maximum output of 6.1 kilowatts. The most distinctive feature of this model is the Smart Motor Generator System, which integrates the starting motor and generator into a single unit. This mechanism makes it the first Yamaha model in Japan to incorporate a power assist function. When the throttle is opened quickly to start the bike from a standstill, the motor powerfully assists the engine's torque for up to three seconds. This function enables smooth and stress-free acceleration even when climbing hills or when two passengers are in the car. When the assist is activated, an indicator is displayed on the meter, making it easy to visually check the operation status. The system also features a stop-and-start system that contributes to improved fuel economy.

In addition, the engine automatically stops at traffic lights to reduce fuel consumption, and restarts quietly with a simple turn of the throttle. Since there is no need for a starting motor or gears, the engine can be started smartly with a single push of the throttle, without the gear noise associated with conventional starting. The benefits of this system have resulted in an approximately 3 percent improvement in fuel economy, and together with the 5.1-liter fuel tank capacity, it reduces the need for daily refueling. The manufacturer's suggested retail price was set at 368,500 yen including consumption tax. Annual sales in Japan are planned to be 6,500 units, with sales to begin on April 24, 2026.
