With MotoGP seats for 2027 filling up, Jack Miller, Alex Rins, and Franco Morbidelli, rumored to be moving to WorldSBK, spoke about their futures on Thursday before the Aragon GP.
Loss of MotoGP Seats and Interest in WorldSBK
As MotoGP seats for 2027 are being decided one after another, rumors from the silly season (transfer market) are also having a significant impact on the WorldSBK (Superbike World Championship) paddock. On Thursday, ahead of the Aragon GP, three talented riders who are likely to lose their seats next season commented on their plans for 2027.
Jack Miller of Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP, a rider with 11 years of MotoGP experience, has announced he will leave the team, yielding his seat to Izan Guevara. Alex Rins of Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP and Franco Morbidelli, who will leave Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, are also drawing attention regarding their futures next season.
Riders Discuss Next Season's Prospects and Negotiation Status
Regarding a move to WorldSBK, Jack Miller expressed a positive attitude, saying, "I want to see what I can do in a different kind of racing, leveraging my 11 years of experience with Michelin tires. I'm looking forward to the challenge." However, he is not rushing his decision and wants to make a choice that suits his career.
Alex Rins admitted to negotiating with WorldSBK teams, but also stated, "I have interesting offers from other championships as well, and I still need time to make a decision."
Franco Morbidelli also said about next season, "I am in discussions with someone and want to resolve it as soon as possible," and when asked about contact with WorldSBK paddock personnel, he briefly replied, "Yes." The next round of WorldSBK is scheduled to be the Magny-Cours round starting September 4th.
