Flowing Fairing Kit that Melts into the Bodywork: KAWASAKI Z900RS Custom by AMERICAN DREAM

AMERICAN DREAM's Z900RS

This cafe racer cowl kit for the Kawasaki Z900RS was developed in-house by American Dream shortly after the model's release. To make it bolt-on ready, the company carried out thorough testing while creating custom brackets, and carefully selected a handlebar that wouldn’t interfere with the fairing. After this preparation, the kit was brought to market. The bike featured here is equipped with that cafe racer cowl kit, along with several other original Z900RS parts from American Dream, including a carbon injection cover, a long tail cowl extended by 50mm with a tail lamp extension kit, and the NEO short titanium exhaust.

“This bike has three optional features added to the NEO short exhaust: polished finish, quenching (heat treatment), and a shot emblem with a blasted logo at the end section. It's been very well received,” says Mr. Matsuda, president of American Dream.

Mr. Matsuda is also planning a new offering for the Z900RS: complete custom bikes. "We’re putting together a package with the exterior parts and exhaust mentioned earlier. As for the paint, we plan to offer the ever-popular Candy Tone Orange/Brown and this Tiger color. The wheels and suspension will remain stock, but customers can customize that area based on their preferences later on. Those are easy to change anytime, so we hope people can enjoy this package without pressure."

This machine is essentially a concept model representing that vision. The cafe racer cowl kit is available in two optional paint colors—Candy Tone Orange/Brown and Yellow Tiger—along with the matching long tail cowl. There’s a lot to look forward to from American Dream’s latest custom project.

Bodywork

The Cafe Racer Cowl Kit for Z900RS includes the main fairing, windshield, bracket set, handlebar, throttle holder, and cables. Paint options are available in either Candy Tone Orange/Brown or Yellow Tiger color schemes. The mirrors are the Magical Racing NK-1 model.

This bike uses a mirror-type windshield. Other available options are clear and smoke types. The handlebar is positioned to avoid interference with the cowl.

The carbon injection cover is made by American Dream using twill-weave carbon. A bat pattern weave is also available as an option.

Engine

The radiator core guard, which protects the fins from rocks and debris kicked up by the front tire, is made by Doremi Collection.

Intake & Exhaust

The exhaust system is American Dream’s NEO short titanium exhaust with a spiral collector and an upswept tailpipe. The version installed here features three optional treatments: polish (shiny finish), quenching (heat-treated, creating blue coloring near the exhaust header), and shot emblem (logo added by blasting).

The NEO short titanium exhaust has a sharply upswept shape. Because of this, the pillion steps are replaced with American Dream’s original kit. A low-mount version of the NEO short titanium exhaust is also in development, which will be compatible with the stock pillion steps.

Chassis

The rearsets kit from OVER Racing is made of machined parts.
