The five original DN Series helmets recently released by DAYTONA are currently attracting attention as their first original helmets, as well as for their reasonable prices. Here at Webike, we plan to review all five types by actually using them and giving our honest opinions! First, let's check out the DN-001RS, which is the "sporty type" in the lineup.

Sport Type DN-001RS with huge rear spoiler

Of the five DN Series models, the DN-001RS has the structure most suited for sport riding. This can be seen at a glance by looking at the exterior, with the huge spoiler on the back of the head and the smooth shell shape indicating that it is designed for use at high speeds. However, it is not intended for racing use, but rather for daily use and touring. For this reason, it is equipped with an inner visor, speaker holes, and other features that make it user-friendly for a wide-range of riders. And maybe the biggest selling point is that it is equipped with this full range of features at a very reasonable price.
But how comfortable is it to actually use? We have thoroughly examined all aspects, so let's take a look at the review.

The visibility is on another level and it holds your head firmly and securely!
The first thing I would like to recommend this helmet for is its sophisticated design. Though it is a simple design, there are various accents throughout, and especially the spoiler with a shape that flows from the front to the back emphasizes the sporty impression of the helmet overall. Also, for the white version, the vent areas and levers are black, which makes it look very cool.
Now, when you actually pick it up, you will be surprised to find that it is lighter than you imagined. Considering that it is equipped with a large spoiler and an inner visor, the shell itself must be quite lightweight. Overall, it is not heavy, but not as light as a high-end model helmet.
When I put it on, I had the impression that the padding, which is slightly hard, held my head firmly. It did not shift when I shook my head from side to side and did not put any strain on my neck. However, in terms of balance, due to the weight of the large rear spoiler, it feels slightly like it pulls to the back. This does not bother me so much when I am actually riding the bike, but it might start to if I wear it for a long time.
The best point about this helmet is definitely its wide field of vision. To begin with, the visibility area is made quite wide, and the shield itself is very large. I have the impression that the field of view is 1.5 times wider than that of a normal full-face helmet. Very literally, you can see from one end to the other, and since there is nothing to block your view, you can always concentrate on riding with a clear mind. Incidentally, a mirror type is also available in the lineup, so you can choose the version that best suits your preference. Of course, the visibility was also excellent.

The inner visor is also large, and it is not as dark as one might imagine. Therefore, even in dark places such as tunnels, the visor does not obstruct visibility, and it also blocks sunlight well. The inner visor is raised and lowered by operating the lever on the lower left side of the helmet, but the lever is small and fastens tightly, so it may be difficult to operate with thick gloves. It may take some time for many people to get used to it.
The performance of the ventilation was difficult to feel when just riding in the city, but I could feel it somewhat on the highway. However, I did get the impression that air was constantly circulating inside the helmet, probably due to the chin guard being far forward. I never felt stuffy while riding.

As for the effect of the spoiler, I didn't feel a difference in the city, but when cruising at 80 km/h on the highway I got the impression that maybe wind resistance was being reduced. You might be able to feel it more at higher speeds, but at least I did not feel like the helmet was being lifted up by the wind from below. One thing that bothered me a little bit was the wind noise during high speed cruising, but I stopped noticing it as much as I was riding.
Overall, the performance quality is more than enough for this price. I strongly recommend this helmet as a sub-helmet for those who already have one, and also for those who are looking to buy their first helmet. If you are looking for a sporty and reasonable helmet, this is definitely a good choice.
