BbKRT Heads to the Decisive Battle at Its Home Track in Misano
Round 7 of the 2026 FIM Superbike World Championship (WSBK) will take place from June 12 to 14 at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” in Italy, which serves as the home track for the Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team (BbKRT).Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani will compete as the official BbKRT team in this race, which marks the start of the second half of the season.
Misano, located just a few kilometers from Bimota’s headquarters, is always a special round for the manufacturer. Furthermore, since Bassani is Italian, this 4.226-kilometer circuit can truly be called a home race for BbKRT in many ways.
Misano marks the conclusion of a rotation that has seen five alternating WSBK race weekends since Assen in April. Ahead of the season’s short summer break, there is perhaps no more appealing venue than the seaside circuit of Misano.
Feedback from the Misano test and past results
This isn’t BbKRT’s first visit to Misano this year. The team participated alongside many other teams in a crucial mid-season test session held from May 20 to 21, which provided an opportunity to develop the WSBK-spec Bimota KB998 Rimini. This test was also beneficial as a period to prepare specific setups for the upcoming Misano race weekend.
Since its inaugural event in 1991, Misano has been one of the most frequently used venues in WSBK, hosting 70 races across four different layouts. The current 4.226 km layout was first introduced in 2008; prior to that, races were run in the opposite direction.Last year, Alex secured a podium finish on the KB998 in a 10-lap sprint race at Misano, while Axel secured a front-row start in Superpole.
With the championship now at the halfway point, Alex sits in 4th place overall with 132 points, while Axel is in 7th with 109 points. Both riders have already secured podium finishes at the 2026 season opener in Australia.
Track action at Misano begins on June 12 with two 45-minute free practice sessions. Saturday will feature a short FP3 session, Superpole qualifying, and a 21-lap Race 1.On Sunday, following a short warm-up session, the traditional Sprint Race (10 laps) will take place, followed by the final Race 2 (21 laps).
Following the Misano round, Round 8 will take place at Donington Park in the UK from July 10 to 12, after which the series will enter a short summer break.
