Suzuki Motor Corporation has made new technical improvements to its V-STROM800 series of sports adventure tourers with the aim of reducing environmental impact and realizing a sustainable society. The latest model announced is the first Suzuki motorcycle for the Japanese market to be compatible with E10 gasoline. This vehicle can be powered by a 10 percent bioethanol blend, symbolizing Suzuki's commitment to utilizing diverse energy sources. Behind this is the "New Seven Issues," which the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) has set as its key theme for the coming year. Specifically, they are the security of critical resources and parts, social implementation of multi-pathways, and the creation of a circular economy mechanism. In addition to these issues, the company has announced its policy to support manufacturers in solving a wide range of problems, such as strengthening the human resource base, establishing a transportation system based on automated driving, drastically reforming the automobile-related tax system, and improving the competitiveness of the entire supply chain. By moving quickly to address fuels on the vehicle side, the company aims to ensure that it is on the right track to becoming carbon neutral.

The new 2026 Vstrom 800DE is the first production model in Japan that can use biofuel "E10" gasoline.

E10 gasoline, which is less popular in Japan, is gasoline mixed with 10% bioethanol. It is becoming more popular overseas, and Suzuki has even introduced a model for India that is compatible with up to 85% bioethanol.

Patented engine technology provides high driving performance and a comfortable operating feel

The V-STROM 800/DE is a large adventure model that emphasizes comfortable long distance riding. In addition to the standard model for on-road riding, the DE model with spoked wheels and large diameter wheels is specially designed and equipped with various features for adventures on unpaved roads. The series' high level of convenience that meets the needs of a wide range of users, from daily transportation to long weekend tours, is a major attraction of this series. The heart of the engine is a four-stroke, in-line two-cylinder unit with a total displacement of 775 cc. This power unit incorporates a revolutionary patented technology called the "Suzuki Cross Balancer," in which two primary balancers are positioned at 90 degrees to the crankshaft. This greatly reduces unpleasant vibrations during driving, while at the same time reducing the overall weight and compact shape of the engine. Pricing is set at 1,309,000 yen for the standard model V-STROM800 and 1,397,000 yen for the V-STROM800DE. The product will go on sale on March 25 and will be available at Suzuki dealers nationwide.

The color lineup and equipment follow the previous model. The character of an easy-to-handle adventure tourer remains unchanged.
