Nagoyakogei Co., Ltd. has announced that it will provide 3D printed parts made from recycled automotive waste materials for the Honda Tochigi Racing team's vehicle participating in the "Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Road Race" held from July 3rd to 5th, 2026. This initiative aims to verify the potential of waste material utilization in the harsh racing environment of speeds reaching 300 km/h.
Recycling Automotive Headlamp Waste into Number Plates
This project involves recycling resin waste generated from vehicle headlamps into material for 3D printers. Nagoyakogei handles the entire process in-house, from cutting and crushing to 3D printing and molding.
The manufactured parts will be used as number plates on the Honda Tochigi Racing vehicle. The team is composed of employees involved in four-wheel development and production technology development at Honda's Tochigi facility. The goal is to test the durability and practicality of recycled materials in the extreme environment of motorsports.
Manufacturing Race Vehicle Parts with State-of-the-Art 3D Printing Technology
The parts were manufactured using the "Prusa Pro HT90" from PRUSA RESEARCH, a company for which Nagoyakogei serves as an agent. Nagoyakogei operates a farm with over 100 3D printers, enabling them to handle everything from prototyping to mass production.
The process of transforming waste materials into race vehicle parts is showcased in a video on their official YouTube channel. This challenge in sustainable manufacturing is drawing attention for its future potential.
