The 50cc moped category has finally come to an end, but Yamaha has introduced a new EV moped model. The name is "JOG E," and it is Yamaha's first model that can use the Mobile Power Pack e:, a removable battery that Honda had introduced earlier. The JOG E will be available only in Tokyo and Osaka, where Mobile Power Pack e: charging stations Gachaco have been installed, and will not come with a battery and charger. For this reason, the price has been set at 159,500 yen, lower than the 50cc model. Sales will begin on Monday, December 22, 2025. Regular sales of the full package are scheduled for the second half of 2026.
The moped tag team of Yamaha and Honda continues!
Yamaha has long had its own lineup of moped-class EV models, such as the "e-beano," but the Jog E is notable for being the first Yamaha to use a removable battery, the Honda Mobile Power Pack e:. This battery can be used in the "Gachaco" battery sharing service that has been jointly developed by Japanese motorcycle manufacturers and ENEOS Holdings, and many models from Honda have already been lined up for use in this service, which is becoming popular as a power source for EV motorcycles. Gachaco stations, where users can exchange batteries with each other and use fully charged batteries at any time, have already been installed in Tokyo (42 stations), Saitama Prefecture (2 stations), and Osaka Prefecture (7 stations).
Yamaha has also been an OEM supplier of 50cc models with Honda since 2018, sharing much of its bodywork and design with Honda. In the field of EV scooters, Yamaha-Honda OEM supply has once again been agreed upon, and the Jog-E is the first model to be supplied by the two companies. The Jog-E is the first model to be supplied by Yamaha-Honda. As a result, the Jog-E shares many features with Honda's EM1 e: and is nearly identical in terms of performance. It is equipped with a single battery and has a cruising range of 53 km (at 30 km/h on a steady road). The moped class features a front/rear interlocking brake system, a headlight with LED upper-limit split headlight, a full-digital meter for easy visibility, space under the seat for storing small items, a charging socket compatible with USB Type-A terminals, and a front pocket that can hold a 500-ml PET bottle. The vehicle is fully equipped with all the features required for a Class 1 moped. Weighing only 93 kg, it is light enough for everyday use.

Although the driving range on a full charge is rather short at 53 km, expect to travel while using the Gachaco station.

Currently, Gachaco stations are located in three prefectures, Tokyo, Saitama, and Osaka. Further expansion is planned in the future.
Preliminary launch is premised on the use of "Gachaco" stations, with official launch in the second half of 2026.
The Jog-E will be released on December 22, 2025. However, this is a pre-release, and will only be available at some stores in Tokyo and Osaka where Gachaco stations are installed. Since the use of the station is a prerequisite, the battery and charger are not included, and only the main unit is sold. The price is therefore kept low, at 159,500 yen, which is more affordable than the conventional 50cc Jog. It will be available in two colors, dark gray and light gray. The Jog-E is currently not available in areas without Gachaco stations, but the full package, including battery and charger, is scheduled to be officially available in the second half of 2026. We await further news on this as well.
