Kaedea's "Heat Wave" thermal glove is a new, freshly-made product launched this past November, with a lineup of three types: two electrically heated types and one non-electrically heated type. The key points are "reasonable price" and "casual design. We tried them on for ourselves to see what they can do.

Pursuing Reasonable Prices and Casual Designs

The first thing that surprised us was the price. The Kaedea "Heat Wave" electric heating glove comes in two types: "Electric" with a built-in 7.4V lithium-ion battery and "Thermolink 12V" with a 12V specification that is powered from the vehicle body, priced at 13,880 yen and 8980 yen, respectively! This price, compared to basic products of other two-wheeled brands, is almost 10,000 yen cheaper. The electrics are particularly impressive, costing less than 15,000 yen with batteries included. And yet it functions well. The battery-powered Electric can be used continuously for up to 7 hours and 20 minutes. The electric heating wires are positioned to heat the back of the hand evenly, even down to the tips of the fingers. It is Kaedea's style not to skimp on performance even at a reasonable price.Another feature is the design. As you can see, it has a clean and casual atmosphere, and although the protector is attached, it does not feel bulky, so it can be worn on any type of vehicle, from scooters to sport bikes.Kaedea's previous electrothermal gloves had a sportier design, but after the success of the simple summer gloves released this year, the company decided to go the same route with a cleaner design.

Two types of electrically heated gloves and three types of non-electrically heated gloves

From left to right: Thermolink 12V Heatwave (KDR-H-GL5WB) with body-powered specifications: 8,980 yen; Electric Heatwave (KDR-H-GL5WH) with battery-powered specifications: 13,880 yen; and Heatwave (KDR-H-GL5W) with non-electric heat: 5,980 yen. The basic design is the same for all three types, with the electrically heated version having a control button on the hem.

The electrics house a 7.4V lithium-ion battery in the hem of the glove. The Thermolink 12V houses the SAE connector that connects to the body-side power supply in the same location.

The electric heating specification has three temperature levels, which are switched by a square button on the hem. The strongest, 60 degrees, is red, 50 degrees is white, and the button emits a blue light at 45 degrees.

The simple design is another feature of the Heat Wave series. It matches any type of motorcycle.

Basic performance as a thermal glove is also excellent.

While this product is a reasonably priced electric glove, its basic performance as a winter glove for motorcycles is also well-developed. The fabric has a water-repellent finish, silicone prints for smartphone touch and non-slip grip, small but well-positioned protectors, and reflective "Kaedear" letters for nighttime visibility, all of which set these gloves apart from other winter gloves for motorcycles. An interesting feature is that the Thermolink 12V, which is a vehicle-body powered version, uses SAE connectors for wiring. Many of Kaedea's electrical parts use SAE connectors, so if you are already using the company's products, you can easily extract power by branching the wiring from the SAE connector.

Equipped with a simple but protective protector

On the instep side, a PVC knuckle protector and EVA finger pads are attached. The word "Kaedear" is printed with reflectors.

The palm side is equipped with a resin palm slider and non-slip silicone for a better grip.

A hook-and-loop fastener belt keeps the air between the inside and outside of the glove.

The thumb and index finger are made of touch screen compatible fabric, allowing for smartphone operation.

I ran for about an hour with the Electric on in 6 degrees Celsius outside temperature.Atthe maximum temperature of 60 degrees Celsius, it warmed the back of my hands to the tips of my fingers, allowingmeto ride without feeling cold. The feeling is light and soft, and does not interfere with steering wheel or lever operation, and the interior is comfortable and pleasant to the touch. The Heat Wave (5,980 yen), which does not have an electric heating function, is also attractive for its high basic performance. It is available in three colors and five wide variations of sizes from S to XXL. This abundance of choices is one of the appeals of this product. Actual measurements by size and installation methods are introduced in detail on the Kaedea website.

Three colors will be available for all types: blue camouflage/gray camouflage/olive camouflage.

The glove's basic performance as a winter glove is also a point of beauty, combining high thermal protection with good maneuverability.

Inner-type electrically heated gloves are also available.
Electrically heated gloves that can be used as an inner layer of regular gloves are also available. The temperature can be adjusted in three levels, with five sizes from S to XXL. These are only vehicle body power supply type.
