Injecting Individuality with a Bikini Cowl: A Fresh Take on the Iconic Z900RS Custom

0024 Works' Z900RS

This is a Z900RS custom by 0024 Works. Instead of the typical American Dream café racer cowl kit or Hurricane clip-on handlebars commonly used on the Z900RS, they have opted for a normal handlebar and a bikini cowl, effectively showcasing their originality.

However, upon closer inspection, you can see that they have incorporated elements such as the American Dream Neo Short Titanium exhaust (with quenching/polish/shot emblem) and Marchesini forged wheels, along with BEET rearsets. They have also utilized parts from 0024 Works' standard selection, including the OVER Racing swingarm, subframe, and sliders. It turns out that this customization was based on the Z900RS owned by the owner of 0024 Works. By changing the bikini cowl and handlebar, they have created a completely different appearance. 0024 Works has already customized over 30 Z900RS motorcycles, which might involve the use of similar parts and color schemes. However, by introducing changes to accentuate certain areas, they are able to achieve one of the main objectives of customization—standing out from the rest. This is the allure of a 0024 Works' custom Z900RS. Not only do they carefully select parts, but they also apply painted air-cooled Z1 colors, adding slight gradations and base color variations to further enhance the originality.

Handle

The handlebar is a 3-piece machined type made by AELLA, allowing for position adjustments including the handlebar backsweep angle. The front master cylinder remains as stock.

Bodyworks

To enhance the originality, a BEET brown upper cowl kit is installed, providing a bikini cowl look. The windshield is from MRA, and the blinkers have been downsized.

The subframe and front sprocket cover, which include a change assist feature, are manufactured by OVER Racing. As for the engine sliders, the preferred choice is the TRICK STAR brand.

Chassis

The rear shock is provided by Ohlins and the black rearsets are made by BEET. The frame and linkage components are Z900RS stock parts.

The front brake features a combination of Brembo .484 opposed 4-piston calipers and Sunstar brake discs. The front forks are Z900RS stock Φ41mm inverted forks.

The swingarm is made by OVER Racing and, like other base parts, is chosen in black. The wheels are also black, and in this custom, Marchesini M7RS forged aluminum wheels are installed. The sizes are 3.50-17 for the front and 6.00-17 for the rear. The tires are Metzeler Sportec M9RR, with sizes of 120/70ZR17 for the front and 200/55ZR17 for the rear.
