This project features a bike that catches our eye from the MY BIKE section of the Webike Community. This time, we're featuring the DUCATI "Scrambler Sixty2," owned by "gtc."
Scrambler Sixty2 (400cc) Owner: gtc
The "Scrambler Sixty2" is the 400cc model in Ducati's "Scrambler" series that can be ridden with a regular motorcycle license. A modern street bike rebuilt as a tribute to the company's historic model released in 1962, this model is equipped with an air-cooled L-twin engine.
It achieves a balance of Ducati's characteristic engine feel and nimble handling, creating a package that is approachable for both beginners and experienced riders. As production has ended, it continues to attract attention in the used market for its rarity and potential as a custom base.
gtc chose this bike because they were drawn to its unique look that stands out from the crowd and its nimble ride, which they could feel even after switching from their previous motorcycle. They enjoy it as a daily companion, appreciating it as a rare option to experience Ducati's signature "thumping" engine feel in the mid-size class.
<From the MY BIKE Comment>
■Reason for Purchase / Usage / Comparison Models
Because it's unique. Because it's cool. Because it's lighter and has more horsepower than my previous Steed. This is about the only mid-size bike with a thumping 2-cylinder engine.
■Strengths
Looks. Ride. Sound.
■Weaknesses
Hard to turn. Many various breakdowns. Muffler, battery, injector fouling.
■Advice for Future Buyers
Since you can't buy it new, get the newest model year possible. Also, it's best to have the delivery inspection done thoroughly, even if it takes a lot of time and money. I'm having trouble with three issues within two months of delivery. It's not to the point where parts need to be ordered, but it's stressful when the engine won't start.
■Future Custom Plans
For now, whether to go with Termignoni or Mivv for the muffler.
