The Honda CB750, model "RC42," released in 1992, featured an air-cooled inline-four engine. It was a legendary motorcycle that continued to be loved for many years, inheriting the traditional naked style while offering user-friendly characteristics and high reliability. Production continued until the final model in 2008. It still garners strong support from riders who appreciate the aesthetic beauty of the air-cooled engine and the unique feel of a carbureted machine.

Monky Jr., the owner featured today, deliberately switched to this CB750 from a high-performance modern motorcycle. Despite concerns about its high mileage, they chose it for its rarity as Honda's last air-cooled carbureted model and the freedom it offered for customization to their liking. Referring to their beloved bike as "CB," they seem to be enjoying the process of refining it into their ideal machine, with plans for a muffler exchange and the installation of a power filter.

Reason for Purchase / Usage / Comparison Models

I used to ride a Triumph Speed Triple 1050 (2013 model), but I started to feel that the required cruising speed was too high for me. While browsing at a motorcycle shop, I came across this CB750. I was hesitant because it was a high-mileage vehicle, but I decided to buy it because it's Honda's last air-cooled carbureted model, and I thought it would allow for more freedom in customization compared to fuel-injected models.

Strengths

Kawasaki started fitting catalytic converters early on, but Honda did so much later. This CB750 is a 2008 (final) model and doesn't have one, which gives a lot of freedom in choosing mufflers. The looks are also nice, with a classic retro feel.

Weaknesses

Surprisingly, the fuel economy isn't great.

Advice for Potential Buyers

It's been nearly 20 years since the CB750 reached its final model, so any common issues or weaknesses are well-documented online. If you keep those points in mind, it's a very robust machine otherwise.

Future Customization Plans

The muffler is already an aftermarket part, but it seems like it's not actually for a CB750. So, I plan to replace the muffler. The carburetor is stock, but I intend to install a power filter. I'll decide on replacing the handlebars after observing for a while longer. Ideally, I'd like to repaint the whole bike.
