[MotoGP Round 15] Acosta takes the top spot in Friday Practice at the Austrian GP! Ai Ogura is 3rd in his return race

In the Friday practice session for the MotoGP Round 15 Austrian GP held at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, Pedro Acosta of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing recorded the top time. Fermin Aldeguer followed in 2nd place, and Ai Ogura, in his return race, took 3rd. Championship contenders Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin also comfortably secured top positions, qualifying directly for Q2.

Acosta leads KTM at their home Grand Prix, Ai Ogura advances to Q2 in 3rd

The Friday practice for the MotoGP Round 15 Austrian GP took place at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Pedro Acosta of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing clocked a 1:28.381, topping the first day at KTM's home Grand Prix. Fermin Aldeguer of BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP followed in 2nd place.

In 3rd place was Ai Ogura of the Superfile Trackhouse MotoGP Team, who made a brilliant run in his first track appearance since Silverstone. Marc Marquez of the Ducati Lenovo Team took 4th, followed by Jorge Martin of Aprilia Racing in 5th. In this event where Marquez and Martin clash while tied in points, both riders had a smooth start.

Midway through the session, Alex Marquez of BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP suffered a strange crash at the exit of Turn 1, causing a temporary red flag. White smoke appeared when the front tire touched the ground, leading to the crash, but the rider was uninjured and managed to record the 9th fastest time after the restart, securing a spot in the top 10.

Quartararo reaches Q2 for the first time since Barcelona, Bagnaia sinks to 18th

The practice results determined the top 10 riders who will advance directly to Saturday's Q2 qualifying. Joining the leader Acosta are Aldeguer, Ogura, M. Marquez, and Martin, along with Fabio Di Giannantonio, Brad Binder, A. Marquez, and Marco Bezzecchi. Aprilia Racing's Martin and Bezzecchi, who are taking on Round 15, both successfully advanced to Q2.

Additionally, Fabio Quartararo of Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP finished 10th, marking his first direct Q2 advancement since the Barcelona round. Meanwhile, Luca Marini of Honda HRC Castrol missed out by just 0.004 seconds, finishing 11th and heading to Q1 alongside Johann Zarco and Diogo Moreira. Francesco Bagnaia of the Ducati Lenovo Team also struggled, sinking to 18th, and will look to bounce back in Q1.

Saturday will feature qualifying and the Tissot Sprint. Important sessions that will influence the outcome of the championship continue.
