Hello to all Webike Plus readers! I am SasuRider, a man who grew up listening to "SAGA Saga~♪" in real-time.
At the time, partly due to the influence of that song, I had the delusion that "Saga Prefecture = nothing there," but... I learned after touring the area that this was a huge mistake!
In fact, far from having nothing, it is overflowing with attractive touring spots, so this time I will introduce recommended spots in Saga Prefecture.
*Each spot's information is current as of September 2026. The information posted is subject to change without notice. Please check in advance when you go out.

1 Winding Road & Scenic Spot: Kagami-yama
Kagami-yama is a scenic spot where you can overlook the Karatsu city area, the Genkai Sea, and one of Japan's three great pine groves, "Niji no Matsubara."
You can ride your motorcycle to the summit at an altitude of about 284m, and you can enjoy the "zigzag winding road" along the way!
In terms of distance, it is only about 4km, but... amazingly! There are 15 hairpin curves in total, so the riding experience is tremendous.
SasuRider's One-Point Advice

At the summit of Kagami-yama, there are facilities such as a large parking lot, public restrooms, shops, and cafes, and happily, both admission and parking are free.
You can enjoy the superb view created by Niji no Matsubara and Karatsu Bay, and you can overlook the pine forest that continues for about 5km and the townscape of Karatsu!
By the way, on days with good conditions, you can sometimes see the silhouette of the island of "Iki," so please try to attack it on a day with good weather.

2 Touring Road: Taradake Orange Kaido
The road that runs through the foot of "Taradake," located on the border between Saga and Nagasaki Prefectures, is the "Taradake Orange Kaido."
It is a touring road classified as a so-called "wide-area farm road," and as the name suggests, you can ride while looking at vast "tangerine fields"!
Therefore, it is a road that should be ridden in the "tangerine season of winter" rather than summer, and it has a considerable volume with a total length of about 40km.

A recommended place to stop by along the Taradake Orange Kaido is "Kaido Shirube."
It is a facility like a "Roadside Station" that sells local ingredients and souvenirs, and it is also equipped with free parking and public restrooms.
Moreover, an outdoor observation deck overlooking the Ariake Sea is provided, so it is worth remembering as a "rest & scenic spot."

3 End of the Road: Hado-misaki
Hado-misaki is located at the tip of the "Higashimatsuura Peninsula" in the northwestern part of Saga Prefecture.
It is a place where the blue sea of the Genkai Sea and grasslands spread out, a "road's end spot" that all riders love, and it is certified as one of the "100 Best Beaches in Japan, Genkai Quasi-National Park, and Lover's Sanctuary Project Satellite"!
Taking pictures in front of characteristic objects that seem perfect for social media, or visiting the only "Underwater Observation Tower (1,000 yen)" on the Sea of Japan side is a standard way to spend time.
SasuRider's One-Point Advice
The gourmet food you absolutely must eat when you come to Hado-misaki is "Sazae no Tsuboyaki (Grilled Turban Shell)", which is a dynamic delicacy made by grilling turban shells caught in the Genkai Sea over charcoal!
Depending on the season, they also grill abalone (May-August) or oysters (December-March), so you can be happy without fail if you eat them together.
Note that Hado-misaki has free admission and parking, and it is actually also known as a "famous spot for sunsets."

4 Scenic Spot: Hamanoura Rice Terraces
Riders are creatures that unconditionally love the "rice terraces" of their touring destinations, and in fact, SAGA Saga also has the "Hamanoura Rice Terraces"!
The sight of 283 rice fields lined up on the slope falling toward the Genkai Sea is a masterpiece in a word... it has reached the realm of a work of art.
Note that there is a free parking lot and a magnificent observation deck on-site, and it is such a popular place that tour buses come.
SasuRider's One-Point Advice
The time when the beauty of the Hamanoura Rice Terraces reaches its peak is the spring season when rice planting is carried out after puddling.
In particular, the beauty of the scene where the water-filled rice terraces reflect the sunset and the Genkai Sea spreads out beyond them is such that you will find yourself watching it and forgetting the time!
However, it is also a time when many photographers from inside and outside the prefecture visit, so it might be difficult to secure the best position if you don't go early...

5 Tourist Spot: Arita Porcelain Park
What!? Is this really SAGA Saga?... A place with outstanding impact that makes you look five times is "Arita Porcelain Park."
It is an "Arita Ware Theme Park" that reproduces the "Zwinger Palace," a Baroque building in Dresden, Germany, and amazingly! You can enjoy it with free admission!
The worldview created by the solemn buildings and gardens, which is like Final Fantasy, is "extraordinary" itself, and an aura like a different world drifts only here.
SasuRider's One-Point Advice
Inside the Arita Porcelain Park, there are Arita ware shops and restaurants, and facilities where you can experience Arita ware are also provided.
Just strolling through the park is a place worth visiting enough, but if you have time, I recommend enjoying shopping, meals, and experiences.
Note that the parking lot that can be used for free has space for 500 cars, so it is also recommended as a stopover spot for large group touring!

Business Hours: 9:00–17:00
Closed: Irregular holidays

6 Tourist Spot: Izumiyama Magnetic Quarry
After experiencing the splendor of Arita ware at Arita Porcelain Park, I recommend stopping by the "Izumiyama Magnetic Quarry," which can be said to be its origin.
Actually, it is the place that triggered the first production of porcelain in Japan, and it is said that in the early 17th century, the Korean potter "Ri Sampei" discovered "pottery stone," the raw material for porcelain, in this land.
And as a result of mining continuing for about 400 years after that... it has now become a tourist spot with a huge rock surface exposed.
SasuRider's One-Point Advice
Izumiyama Magnetic Quarry is a spot where admission and parking are happily free, and it is also famous as a "leaf-peeping spot" where you can enjoy beautiful autumn leaves in autumn!
Especially during the period of the "Autumn Arita Ceramics Festival" held in November, you can enter areas that are usually off-limits, so it is worth aiming for if you can match the timing.
TEL: 0955-43-2121 (Arita Tourism Association)
Business Hours: Until sunset
Motorcycle-friendly parking: Available on-site (free)

7 Power Spot: Tozan Shrine
Following Arita Porcelain Park and Izumiyama Magnetic Quarry, the final of the three major Arita ware spots is "Tozan Shrine."
Amazingly! The shrine's torii gates and guardian dogs are "made of porcelain," it is a shrine that is truly dependent on Arita ware... it is no exaggeration to say that it is a place that symbolizes SAGA Saga!
Moreover, the "JR Sasebo Line" crosses the shrine grounds... this is another top-level travel story.
SasuRider's One-Point Advice
Tozan Shrine's porcelain guardian dogs are as beautiful as museum exhibits, and the large water jars and lanterns also made of porcelain are all "things that seem to have high value as works of art!"
In a sense, it is a shrine that is like the "best Arita ware exhibition hall," so it might be a more interesting place than a mediocre museum...
By the way, the road leading to the shrine's parking lot (free) is a narrow road with steep slopes and sharp curves, so... please drive carefully.

8 Local Market: Yobuko Morning Market
Among the many touring spots in Saga Prefecture, a local market with a particularly strong travel sentiment is the "Yobuko Morning Market."
It is one of the "Three Great Morning Markets in Japan," alongside the Wajima Morning Market in Ishikawa Prefecture and the Hida Takayama Miyagawa Morning Market in Gifu Prefecture, and amazingly! It is held every day from 7:30 to 12:00, except for New Year's Day!
Stalls line the 200m "Yobuko Morning Market Street," and energetic ladies sell fresh seafood, processed products like dried fish, and vegetables.
SasuRider's One-Point Advice
The local gourmet "Ika Shumai (Squid Dumplings)" of Yobuko, also known as the "Town of Squid," is a must-check item at the morning market!
It is a delicacy with a chewy texture and an exquisite harmony created by the umami of squid that becomes addictive, and it is sold for a little over 700 yen for a pack of 4 (as of September 2026).
Note that motorcycles can be parked at the "Yobuko-cho Parking Lot," which can be used for free (7:30–18:30).
TEL: 0955-82-3426 (Yobuko Tourist Information Center)
Business Hours: 7:30–12:00
Closed: January 1st
Motorcycle-friendly parking: Yobuko-cho Parking Lot (free)

9 Local Gourmet: Sicilian Rice
Alongside Yobuko's squid gourmet, the leader of Saga Prefecture's local gourmet is "Sicilian Rice."
Probably many people will react with "Eh? Sicilian Rice? What is that?" but... this is a truly simple gourmet dish where stir-fried meat and raw vegetables are placed on top of warm rice, and mayonnaise is drizzled on top to finish...
It is said to have been born in a restaurant in Saga City in 1975, and is now served in various restaurants and cafes in the city.
SasuRider's One-Point Advice

画像出典:レストラン&カフェ 浪漫座
The biggest point of Sicilian Rice is that there is no style that is "definitely the correct answer," and you can enjoy Sicilian Rice with rich individuality depending on the shop!
My recommendation is the "Saga Beef Roast Beef Sicilian Rice" at "Restaurant & Cafe Romanza," a wonderfully high-sense cafe located inside the former Koga Bank, which already has a winning aura from the menu name (there is no way it is not delicious).
TEL: 0952-24-4883
Business Hours: 10:00–16:00, 11:30–14:00 (Lunch time)
Motorcycle-friendly parking: Available on-site (free)

10 Hot Spring: Ureshino Onsen Siebold no Yu
"Siebold no Yu" is a day-trip bathing facility for "Ureshino Onsen," a famous hot spring counted as one of the "Three Great Beautiful Skin Hot Springs in Japan."
It is a public bath named after the German doctor "Siebold" who visited Ureshino Onsen in the Edo period, and the retro exterior overflowing with Taisho Roman evokes travel sentiment!
In this day and age, you can bathe for only 450 yen, shampoo and body soap are provided (please bring your own towel), and moreover, it is a divine spot with long business hours from 6:00 to 22:00.
SasuRider's One-Point Advice
Siebold no Yu is a hot spring friendly to riders, and you can park your motorcycle in the bicycle parking space on the premises (free).
Although the space is limited, at least on weekdays, a full-pannier GS could be parked without problems, so if you avoid the weekend or evening bathing times, there shouldn't be a situation where you "can't park."
However, you need to drive on narrow roads unique to hot spring towns, so please be careful when driving your motorcycle.
TEL: 0954-43-1426
Business Hours: 6:00–22:00
Motorcycle-friendly parking: Available on-site (free)

Saga Prefecture has it all: "Riding, Seeing, Eating, and Soaking"
Saga Prefecture is the most compact existence in Kyushu, but when you actually ride a motorcycle, it has a truly diverse range of spots!
Kagami-yama and Hado-misaki overlooking the Genkai Sea, the historic Hamanoura Rice Terraces, Izumiyama Magnetic Quarry and Tozan Shrine where you can experience the culture of Arita ware...Furthermore, Yobuko squid, Sicilian Rice in Saga City, and Ureshino Onsen...
Because it is compact, you can spend a fulfilling time even on a day trip, so you who have no time should go to Saga Prefecture with your beloved motorcycle.
