Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. will exhibit and conduct an exhibition run of its electric motocross bike concept model, the "YE-01," at the "MXoN 2026" motocross nations competition held in France starting October 2, 2026. This initiative is aimed at preparing for participation in the "MXEP" electric motocross category, which is scheduled to launch in the near future.
Exhibition and demonstration run to be held at MXoN 2026
On September 28, 2026, Yamaha Motor announced that it will exhibit and conduct an exhibition run of its electric motocross bike concept model, the "YE-01," at the "Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations 2026 (MXoN 2026)" held in Ernée, France, starting October 2. This initiative is aimed at preparing for participation in the "MXEP" electric motocross racing category, which is scheduled to launch in the near future.
The "YE-01" was co-developed with the French electric two-wheeler manufacturer Electric Motion SAS (EM) as a concept model for an electric motocross bike that approaches carbon neutrality with "FUN." The vehicle was already displayed at last year's EICMA (Milan Motorcycle Show), one of Europe's largest motorcycle exhibitions, and this exhibition run aims to showcase the vehicle's appeal and the potential of electric motocross riding.
Features a newly designed frame based on YZ450F chassis technology and a dedicated power unit co-developed with EM
The development concept is "Expanding the possibilities of people and machines." It adopts a newly designed frame based on the chassis technology of the "YZ450F," cultivated through many years of racing activities, to achieve high handling stability and excellent vehicle controllability, creating a sense of unity between rider and machine.
The power unit is a dedicated component that fuses the electric vehicle development expertise cultivated by both Yamaha and EM. Furthermore, it is equipped with a clutch, a distinctive feature for an electric motocross bike, which allows the rider to freely control the driving force according to their input, enhancing the sense of unity with the machine and increasing the joy of operation.
Based on the "Yamaha Motor Group Environmental Plan 2050," the company aims to achieve carbon neutrality throughout its entire supply chain, including business activities, by 2050. It positions EVs as one of the new options to expand the future of motocross, aiming to provide more diverse ways to enjoy and experience the sport by expanding new possibilities through electrification while cherishing the charm and excitement that motocross possesses.
The company states that it will continue to promote research and development of various technologies that contribute to sustainability, including electrification, and aims to achieve carbon neutrality through a multi-pathway approach. Note that the commercialization or deployment of this model in Japan has not been announced, and we await further updates.
