Yoshimura Japan Launches "RS-12 Cyclone" Government Certified Slip-On Muffler for DR-Z400S/SM

Yoshimura Japan has newly released the "RS-12 Cyclone" slip-on muffler for the DR-Z400S/SM, based on the US Yoshimura "RS-12 muffler" and adapted to comply with Japanese domestic regulations. The price is 209,000 yen (tax included).

Race Muffler Re-developed for Street Use

The RS-12 Cyclone has its roots in motocross race mufflers designed for off-road use. The "Enduro Series" of the US Yoshimura "RS-12 muffler," which has received high acclaim worldwide, was originally a competition model not approved for public road use. However, Yoshimura Japan has re-developed it to comply with Japanese domestic regulations and has newly launched it for sale as a government-certified muffler.

The compatible models are the 2025/2026 models of the DR-Z400S and DR-Z400SM. The price is 190,000 yen (excluding tax) / 209,000 yen (including tax).

Achieving a Balance of Performance, Sound, and Weight Reduction

It eliminates the dip in the powerband found in the stock muffler, achieving a more linear power curve. The responsive characteristics that react linearly to throttle input allow for easy handling and powerful riding. It achieves approximately a 4% increase in output compared to the stock muffler, providing a noticeable performance improvement through a slip-on type muffler.

While delivering the powerful pulse of a 400cc single-cylinder engine, it also suppresses acceleration noise, balancing performance with consideration for the surroundings. This allows for riding in residential areas without excessive concern and contributes to reduced fatigue during touring and long-distance rides. The silencer weight is reduced by approximately 25% compared to the stock unit, contributing to the bike's nimble handling and enhancing its sporty riding feel.

This product is a government-certified muffler (JMCA certified), compliant with the 2020 exhaust gas regulations and noise regulations. It comes with a 2-year product warranty and a certificate of automobile emission test results (Gas Report).
