The HYUGA is a model whose existence was only hinted at in a teaser video released on September 11. At the time, it only stated, "The full picture will be revealed on September 17, 2026," with both the name and price kept hidden. With this release, it has been officially revealed to be a classic-style full-face helmet that combines a rounded shell with a clear shield, along with its internal features.
The company positions the HYUGA as a model that pursues the comfort and usability demanded by modern riders while maintaining an "everlasting classic style." The catchphrase is "Modern Comfort, Timeless Style." Two key points emphasized in its development are the lightweight feel that makes daily riding enjoyable and ventilation performance that one would not imagine from its classic design.
46,200 Yen Including Tax, 6 Colors and 6 Sizes; XS/S Sizes Available in November
The price is 42,000 yen (46,200 yen including tax) for all colors. It comes in 6 colors: White, Black Metallic, Flat Black, Nardo Gray, Flat Ash Olive, and the limited-edition Shiny Orange. Only solid colors are available; graphic models are not included in this announcement. It meets JIS standards.
There are 6 sizes: XS (54-55cm), S (55-56cm), M (57-58cm), L (59-60cm), XL (61-62cm), and XXL (63-64cm). The shell comes in a 3-shell configuration (XS/S, M/L, XL/XXL), balancing visual proportions for each size with weight reduction. While the release is set for mid-October, the XS and S sizes are scheduled for release in November, about a month later.
Shell Design Aimed at "Lightness" and "Wind"
The basic concept is "lightweight." The company explains that they prioritized lightness from component configuration to material selection to reduce the burden on the neck and shoulders caused by wind and G-forces during acceleration and deceleration. The shell uses the high-strength composite material "A.C.T.-3," which is said to optimize the strength of each part while ensuring penetration resistance and shock absorption.
The ventilation was designed and positioned using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and adjusted through wind tunnel testing. The chin ventilation has an opening/closing mechanism inside the helmet, which allows riding wind to enter directly toward the mouth when opened. It also features a "Wind Shutter" to suppress wind turbulence from the chin area and the company's proprietary "Wake Stabilizer" to regulate airflow and reduce the load on the helmet while riding. It effectively incorporates aerodynamic concepts similar to current sports models while maintaining a classic appearance.
Intercom-Ready Design, Glasses-Friendly, and Washable Interior
An eye-catching feature in terms of usability is the "Intercom-Friendly Design." It adopts detachable ear cups, securing space on the left and right sides in advance for installing intercoms or cameras. Cable routing is also provided, allowing for neat wiring of speaker cords. The cheek pads are shaped to make it easy to wear glasses or sunglasses, and the shield features a newly designed 2-axis ratchet structure, enhancing operational stability and airtightness.
The interior is newly designed, boasting a fit that wraps around to the neck. The fabric uses the comfortable COOLMAX®, and the surface of the inner pads uses DEOFACTOR® antibacterial processing to suppress bacterial growth in some areas. The entire interior can be removed and washed. As a measure against shield fogging, a newly designed "Kabuto Antifog Sheet" is available, though it is sold separately.
PV Filmed in Aso, Featuring Two Riders on Royal Enfields
The PV released on the same day features the same two riders as the teaser. The first half shows them planning a tour, with the words "Aso Touring Plan" and "Kusasenri" visible in a notebook. The second half shows them riding through winding roads cutting through grasslands and eating at a Western-style restaurant; it was filmed in the same Aso area as the teaser video.
The two are wearing white and gray helmets. The gray unit appears to be the Nardo Gray from the lineup. The motorcycles are the same Royal Enfield "Continental GT 650" and "Hunter 350" as in the teaser, and the footage focuses on daily touring, enjoying the scenery and food, rather than circuit or off-road riding. As the company describes it as "from city riding to touring" and a "helmet that fits into daily life," it is a style that involves leisurely enjoying the scenery and touring with a traditional model.
Positioning Within Kabuto's Lineup and the Class
Current models classified as full-face on the company's official website include the racing "F-17" used by MotoGP riders, the "RT-33X", the "AEROBLADE-6", and the standard "KAMUI-5", "KAMUI-3", and "SHUMA" which feature inner sunshades; all of these have sports-oriented forms. The HYUGA is the only classic-style model, filling a gap in the lineup. The price of 46,200 yen including tax is cheaper than the graphic model of the company's KAMUI-5 (LUNOA is 51,700 yen including tax).
In the domestic neo-classic full-face market, the SHOEI "Glamster", Arai "RAPIDE-NEO", and BELL "BULLITT CRF" are ahead. The solid color Glamster was 53,900 yen including tax as of a previous report in February 2025. The HYUGA is in a lower price range than these, and offers a wider selection with 6 sizes and 3 shells. While the way people choose in this class may change at the time of the October release, riders waiting for XS and S will have to wait one more month until November.
